If you've already had your bacon and eggs breakfast, but you still have a longing for that delicious flavor of bacon, why not make yourself some bacon lip balm? It's unusual, yes, but very tasty and easy to make. When you wear it, you can enjoy the flavor of bacon all day, while treating your dry, cracked lips. The unique lip balm works just like other lip balms; dispense it from a tiny tube or a small tin.
Choose the container you want to use for the bacon lip balm. It can be a small tin, which you can find at a craft store, or can be a tube of lip balm, which is now empty. You can also purchase the stick-type tube - never used - online.
To make just one tube or tin of the lip balm, start with an old, unscented candle. Or, purchase new paraffin. Scrape it with a knife so that you gather about two teaspoons of shaved wax. Place it in a zipper-lock bag. Add a teaspoon and a half of petroleum jelly to the bag.
Heat a bowl full of water until it's boiling. Remove from heat. Lay the bag full of wax and petroleum jelly in the water until it turns to liquid. Snip off the corner and put the liquid into a plastic bowl. Keep the bowl on the hot water to keep it in a liquid form. Another option is to just put the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them.
Fry a small piece of bacon and several pieces of fat. Fry until the bacon itself is browned. Allow the bacon and grease to cool a bit then pour it into the bowl containing the wax and petroleum jelly. The amount of bacon grease you pour in should be about a teaspoon. Stir it all well.
It's difficult to fill one of those stick-type lip balm containers but, with a very small funnel, you can. Or, just pour the bacon lip balm into a tiny tin. Dispense the lip treatment just as you would any other lip balm.
The bacon lip balm is unusual but tastes great. However, if you want, you can add edible oils. You can find these in many different flavors when you search online. The finished lip balm works well to keep your lips supple all year round.
