Avoid foods that cause bad breath.
For those that seem to have bad breath constantly, it may help to stay away from the foods that are likely to cause unpleasant odors in the mouth. Spicy additives such as garlic and onions can leave a nasty smell in your mouth for up to 24 hours after consumption, no matter what you do to get rid of the smell. Deli meats, cheese, and fish can also leave a lingering stench in your mouth after eating them.

Keep a toothbrush handy.
The best way to cure bad breath is to brush your teeth and tongue as soon as you finish a meal. Carrying a toothbrush and toothpaste is convenient, and a quick fix to the odor escaping your mouth. The reason this is effective is the primary source of bad breath is plaque, a thin coating of food particles and bacteria that eating can leave behind. Getting rid of this film will help stop bad breath in its tracks. If you cannot find a moment to brush your teeth, simply rinsing your mouth with water can help eliminate smelly breath.

Pop in a mint or stick of gum.
Sometimes, especially for men, carrying mints or gum is easier and more convenient than packing a toothbrush. Mints can help temporarily mask the smell until you can get home to your toothpaste or mouthwash. Chewing gum is usually more effective, however, as many brands help to fight the plaque buildup on your teeth while you chew. They can work as a pseudo-toothbrush when you are on the go.

Munch on the parsley.
Many dishes of food come garnished with a small piece of parsley. This lettuce looking food is actually a natural bad breath treatment. It is 100% safe to eat (though many people leave it behind), and can assist in combating bad breath, at least until you can reach a bathroom.

These are just a few methods you can use when seeking a bad breath treatment. Though it can be an awkward situation, bad breath can easily be cured by following some effective strategies. Next time you are eating, be sure to follow up with one of the above techniques to have your breath smelling fresh.
