Bad Credit is a Paradox (Poem)

Allana Calhoun
The economy is struggling and so are so many others. How many of you are drowning in a sea of debt?

Over the years I've built up so much debt

Lord knows how much I've cried and wept.

Money is scarce, this we all know

How many get stuck with no place to go

Payday loans only indebted me more

My wallet was aching, my mind was sore

Credit cards seemed to offer relief

But in the end, they only cause more grief

Finally a personal loan was given to me

But scared I was, so I borrowed foolishly

I lowered the amount and then soon discovered

With the lower loan my debts were not covered

By this time it was too late to ask for the rest

My credit score had sunk far below the best

For years now I've fought and struggled

All my debts and bills I've shuffled and juggled

Eventually I sought debt consolidation

Turns out it wasn't much consolation

When it couldn't bring down all my debts to one

I had to drop it and go back to paying each every one

I'm to the point where I just want to scream

Why won't someone help me get out of my liens

Give me a loan that will cover all the bills

But no one can, or at least no one will

To get a loan you need a decent credit score

Until you payback the debts you can't get any more

As the debtors squeeze me for my meager pay

I see the paradox that holds me tight today

One little loan with a single monthly payment

Would let me take care of all the bad debt

But I can't get that loan until my credit score increases

But as long as I have debt my credit is in pieces

Though I'm struggling to payback every single one

The credit score stays DOWN as if it weighs a ton

So long as it sits at the bottom of the depths

I cannot get a loan to payback my debts.

Great job! I've learned to live within my means after getting in trouble with credit. This means I don't buy new cars anymore but hey, I'm secure enough to be seen driving a car with rust. LOL

I'm with David. I think it is an oxymoron. But I loved the way you expressed it.

A paradox or an oxymoron... either way.... good point and nicely expressed!

Yeah, I definitely owe a ton for student loans. Luckily, my credit card is mostly paid off, but it's still so stressful...
