According to recent new reports, birth rates in the United States have dropped for the third year in a row. Teen birth rates are also plummeting with the largest drop in teen mothers and women in their early twenties.
Up until now, the lowest birth rates in America were during the Great Depression. During that bleak period in American history, divorce rates declined also as many couldn't afford the legal fees.
If you think the Occupy Movement is something new, think again. During the Great Depression there were a group of veterans known as "Bonus Army." These World War I veterans seeking a bonus promised by Congress were attacked and driven out of Washington, D.C. in June 1932 to request early payment of cash bonuses due to them in 1945. The Great Depression had destroyed the economy, leaving many veterans jobless. The end result was the issuance of the G.I. Bill.
You can see the pamphlet from the Bonus Army here.
As the economy continues a downward spiral, birth rates drop and tempers flare. The holidays approach and many are left to wonder if the shopping will be as bleak and black as the Friday after Thanksgiving.
There are many things that are birthed from a poor economy but it appears that babies are not one of them.
There are two bible verses that I have chosen to share that I hope you will keep in mind.
Philippians 4:19And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Proverbs 22:7The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Make this a time to live within your means and trust in God to meet your needs.

Excellent piece of literature!
Bravo! (And may 2012 bring us some sort of security!)
Outstanding report! Thanks!
Wonderful.
So very well said Michele.
Amen. Phil 4:19 gives me a hope and along with that knowing that he will provide according to His will. Thanks for the history lesson too!
I have been concerned about this for quite some time now, Michele and am so glad that a professional like you actually wrote on it. Thank you so much! If this keeps up, life as we know it will change dramatically, and, in fact, the human race could be headed towards extinction! I hope you have a very blessed and Christ filled Christmas and New year! Love you!! Your Sistah Judy
