Bad Gift Ideas for Wives

Here is a List of Things Not to Get Your Wife This Holiday Season

Kim Brown
Ever been to the mall looking for a Christmas gift for your wife and been at a loss for ideas? Or worse yet, have you ever walked into a store and desperately grabbed the first thing you saw? If you can answer yes to either of these questions you may have experience with the worst gifts for wives list. I know you don't want to be blamed for a bad holiday gift idea again, so here are some guidelines for what not to buy.
1) Clothing
It is tempting to get her clothes but it is close to impossible to guess her size. This makes it one of the worst gift ideas. Even if you have gotten her size ahead of time, fit can vary by manufacturer and style. I worked in a large clothing store for the Christmas season for several years. I have seen the depressing amount of items returned to the store by wives and girlfriends not just for size but also because the recipient just thought that sweater was one of the worst gift ideas. If you must purchase clothes give her a gift card and let her go to the store and try things on.

2)Exercise Equipment
Do not buy anything like this unless she has asked for it and even then...it's probably best to just tell her she looks great and she doesn't need that buns of steel video. My friend still gets a wild look in her eyes when she recounts how her husband gave her an exercise bike for Christmas and she just can't believe he would imply that she was fat. Definitely makes the worst gifts for wives list.

3) Vacuum Cleaner

Even if she needs a vacuum cleaner put it on the worst gifts for wives list. Vacuum cleaners aren't fun, pretty or interesting.

4) Chia Pet

Every one has seen these advertised...and that is what makes it a candidate for bad gift ideas for wives. These have been around so long and are advertised so heavily around the holidays that if you receive one you know the person has not put any thought into the gift.

5) Things That Are Way Too Practical

Believe it or not a friend received a toilet seat one year for Christmas. Now, she had discussed how she was going to replace the one she had but it is safe to say this is never a good gift. A toilet seat would always make the list of worst gifts for wives.

You may be asking yourself, what is a good gift then? How do I keep well away from the dreaded worst gift ideas? Well, if you want to play it totally safe, jewelry is the way to go. I don't know anyone who would be disappointed to receive a nice ring or necklace for Christmas. Jewelry comes in a range of prices, styles and colors, yet is still an easy gift to shop for.
