Bad Monthly Cramps? Check Out ThermaCare

Monthly cramps aren't much fun and staying at home with a heating pad may not be an option. If you've heard about ThermaCare heat wraps but have yet to try them, you may want to during your next cycle. If you haven't come across this item, it usually located in the pharmacy area near the pain relievers such as Aleve, Aspirin, etc. It comes in a red cardboard box with 3 menstrual patches.

Each patch is air activated and can only be used one time. It provides 8 hours of continuous heat relief. It's ultra thin, comfortable and odorless. You apply the sticky side to the inside of the underwear. The product contains iron discs that heat up with your own body temperature. The discs which would appear to cause some discomfort are surprisingly comfortable. It takes about 30 minutes for the product to reach it's temperature.

After 30 minutes the heat will ease the pain of cramps by relaxing the muscles. What's great about this product is it's inexpensive, lasts for hours and doesn't require ingesting drugs for pain relieve. But there are some warnings to take note before using and during use of this product.

Before using this product make sure to ask your doctor if you have diabetes, poor circulation in the body, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis or if you are pregnant. When using any heat product and are age 55 or older, the rash if a heat burn does increase. It suggest do not use this product during sleep to avoid any burns. When first beginning to use this product, check for any burns or blisters. If any are found, stop using immediately. Also do not use with any muscle rub creams/ointments, other forms of heat or on unhealthy or broken skin. If for any reason there is discomfort, swelling of the skin, burning or any other skin changes after use of this product, consult a doctor immediately. Do not attempt to microwave the heat wrap as it may cause damage to yourself and the microwave. It can only be used once and then throw away.

From personal experience there was no discomfort or any skin problems from use of this product. It's great when dealing with a stress work day and having 8 hours of cordless heat relief. Each heat wrap comes in an individual sealed packet that can stored away in a backpack or purse. The cost at the time was just under $6.00 at Wal*Mart but prices may vary depending on where you shop.
