First, and this is an important one, Valentine's Day. Yes, one of the most dreaded holidays by man every created by the opposite sex. Bad gifts to give on this day? One, for example, a diet book. What your thinking, healthy living, she can lose some weight, and thoughtful. What she is thinking, I'm fat, well, that guy at the bar the other day didn't think I was fat. Maybe I'll call the number he gave me.
Another, washer and dryer. Now, again, the man is thinking she has been needing one, this is perfect. I actually know of this leading to a divorce, but won't go into details. What she is thinking, where's the candy idiot, do I not keep your clothes clean enough.
Second, Anniversary. Again, a dreaded date for men, not because we don't want to honor our marriage, but we forget, which is worse than a bad present. Something you may consider forgetting on your anniversary, lingerie. I know, this sounds exciting and sometimes can be thoughtful. However, what she is thinking, my special day, my father had to take out loans to pay for it all, and all you think about is sex. Trust me, this present may sound like a good idea, but go for a nice card and romantic dinner instead.
Third, Birthday. This special day in a woman's life is the day she came into the world. Without it, you wouldn't be in the relationship with her to begin with, right? So, while there won't be a list of bad presents, just do your best not to give one. Put some thought into it, ask her friends what she's been eyeing at the mall, and if she drops hints, listen. Also, as with the Anniversary, do not forget this date, ever.
Lastly, Christmas, Hanukah, or Kwanza, when families from all across the globe come together, and the world is a better place to live, at least during the season. A bad present here can not only lead to bad feelings and a break-up, but a blow up in front of family and friends. Again, like the birthday, put thought into the gift you buy. For example, a catalog sweater instead of stretchy pants. Again, think diet book. Now, if you are in a mixed religion relationship, try and keep their holiday in mind, and give accordingly. So, if you are Christian, and your significant other Jewish, make sure and focus on a gift appropriate for Hanukah. However, possibly giving a tree ornament for her so she feels a part of your own tradition can be thoughtful. This is totally a judgment call on your part.
Was it a perfect list? Probably not, just something to kick you mind into gear the next time your shopping for the woman of your dreams. Also, don't forget to look up gift giving ideas online, there are plenty of great sites with good ideas. Lastly, use your heart along with your mind when picking them out, this will lead to good things, trust me.
