All dark and dreary wet
And in our home it's mayhem too
Because of all our pets
Too much pent up energy
They cannot go and play
So run around the house they do
Or else get blown away
I try to write and concentrate
A day to stay inside
The noise and mess that they create
Puts all of that aside
Don't get me wrong, we love our pets
Life wouldn't be the same
But come on now, sun please come out
And drive away this rain
All barking loud and chasing games
They play with one another
But when they crash into the walls
I want to run for cover
We bundle up and take long walks
Still have to do that stuff
The weather makes them hyper-jacked
So calming down is tough
How do I entertain these two
Without the great outdoors
Stories, games and color books
To them are such a bore
Again I must reiterate
We love them both so well
Young and free and full of life
They teach us not to dwell
But where did all my patience go?
I cannot find it here
Perhaps I need to write some more
Or maybe drink a beer
Rain all week, that can't be true
The paper must be wrong
I must find tranquility
Guess next I'll write a song

A nice poem that expresses thoughts most of us have a rainy days!
You did a great job on this!
Very cute poem. My dog would always run and hide in the basement if the weather was really bad. If it was just drizzling she would want to go out and would stand by the door and bark or spin.
Great write!
memories of when I had a dog. Cats are stay at home pets. Thats the best now for me. Great write. Loved the poetry and the thoughts.
Ah! The stuffy weather does that to you every now and then indeed. Hopefully the sun has returned since then! :o)
