Bad Words

Dan Li
I hate to hear people speaking a lot of bad words. My grandpa told me that there were enough words in the language, why people bother having to swear or using rude words. So to speak, we don't have to ruin the effect by adding something superfluous. From then on, I don't like to hear anyone swearing. I know they are often not very bad people though. They may be just thoughtless, stupid or trying to look cool in front of their friends.

Does it make any sense? People shall never get anywhere with all this criticism and fault finding. I believe in the principle "Live and let live." I mean some bad words can be accepted. Maybe they get so angry or maybe they are bored. I can get it. Yet, not all of them are forgivable.

A girl asked my suggestions about her essay. I would like to help her. Even as we were talking about the problems that she had deal with, she spit out so many words. I am sure not that mean! Just for her bad words, it was not reasonable enough to leave her alone. Actually, she kept testing my patience. Not until she mentioned three dirty words about mom, I really freaked out. If I stayed there for another minute, I would definitely get out of exhausted.

My mind couldn't take the torture anymore! I would think that everyone that is offended by such words would have the gumption to speak up and let it be known that such speech is not appreciated. The problem is that we will not speak up for fear of being considered a Goody Two Shoes or worse. We try to just ignore the bad language, but it seeps into our subconscious. After a period of time, we begin to think the words and maybe to use them ourselves.I believe it to be an epidemic that few have any desire to curtail.

The problem of profanity has gotten so bad that some people cannot speak a complete sentence without using at least one bad word. It is a bad habit that is difficult to break. I hear small children using such words and am sure that most have no idea what they mean. They just know that they have heard their father or mother use them, and (horror of horrors) they frequently got results. Isn't it good to keep the purity of the language?

I used to never swear but I catch myself now days doing it. I don't like it but it just comes out when I'm angry.
