Badregions.Com Exposes Regions Unsatisfactory and Unethical Practices

Regions bank is a bank in the Southeast formerly known as Amsouth bank. This bank has been pointed out as a bank with unsatisfactory and unethical practices according to badregions.com and JD Power and Associates voted the bank dead last in customer satisfaction/business practices. Is this view accurate? I believe so, not only from their examples but my own experiences, as I currently bank with Regions.

According to Rusty Doebler, creator of badregions.com, "Regions Financial Corporation has unethical business policies. BadRegions.com was designed to expose the unethical policies of Regions Bank. We provide a forum for people to post their fraud stories, complaints, lawsuits and other dissatisfactions."

There are thousands of posts from former account holders with bad experiences with Regions Bank posted onto badregions.com. One former account holder, "frustrated with regions" says, "Everything that Regions has done in the past year in regards to NSF/OD Fees (eliminating the daily cap of 10 fees , raising the fees per transaction, basing the fees off Available Balance, etc.) has been to take advantage of those living paycheck to paycheck. I was told this in not so many words by another Regions banker. She said that "we like folks who overdraft their accounts regularly...especially if they have direct deposit. We know the money will be there and they always pay the fees." I also particularly love the recent line that I've heard more than once at local branches...'Overdraft Protection is not designed to protect you from overdrafts. It is designed to kick in and help you avoidd multiple days of fees, but the first day you are likely to get charged multiple fees. This is why the daily cap was removed.'

Also according to Regina Jordan, Regions has her veterans money ,that was set up in a trust fund for post traumatic disorder, and only allots her a certain amount that was not agreed upon. Once she placed her information on the discussion board, many other veterans wrote in about having the same problems or worse. Regina writes, "I am a single mother of a 7 year old son. For almost 3 years, Regions Bank has illegally received my veterans disability benefits...Regions Bank does not have legal justification or legal documentation to receive my veterans benefits. They have not provided any explanation for only allotting my family $200 per week to live on out of $2,600 per month of benefits. My savings have been exhausted trying to care for my family while Regions Bank profits off of my veterans benefits...Regions bank are scammers that steal disabled American Veterans benefits from veterans and their family.Regions bank grow rich off of those who sacrificed for the United States of America."
(see links for Regina Jordan's email)

Also Rusty Doebler posts on his website about being contacted by a former vice president of consumer and business at Regions and discusses Regions bank "penny scam". "This information was provided by a former Regions Financial Corporation employee who left Regions Financial Corporation of his own free will and provided the information voluntarily. Chris Jones, former Vice President of Consumer and Business Scorecard Technology was on the team in charge of fraud detection at Regions Financial Corporation. In these court documents, Mr. Jones details several scams perpetuated upon Regions Financial Corporation customers and stockholders. Below I will explain the inner-workings and potential ramifications of Regions "penny scam" as I understand it.
When a customer closes an account at Regions, some Regions representatives will go through the motions and tell the customer that the account is closed. In reality what happens behind the scenes is that one penny is left in the account, and all automatic fees and mailing of statements are discontinued for the account in an effort to conceal this fraud from the customer."

Regions was voted dead last "among the group of 16 in the Southeast region" by JD Power and Associates, a well known leader of consumer information about business satisfaction, quality, and buyer behavior.

I can personally say that none of this research about Regions bank surprises me as I have banked with them for about a year now. After dealing with charges being held and not ran through buy Regions until well after its too late or most recently being charged a 35.00 overdraft fee because of 22cents, has me planning to my close my account and change banks immediately.
