Review of Bahamas Celebration Cruise
Bahamas Celebration Online Customer Service
I purchased our cruise from the main website. Looking back, we could have gotten a better deal if we went to one of the vacation websites such as Hotwire or Priceline. Either way, we purchased a Suite on the 8th floor which was spacious and beautiful. We had two windows with a beautiful view of the water.
Back to the Bahamas Celebration Customer Service; each time I called the customer service, I received top-notch service. Not only did they call me Mrs. Winslow, but they also answered every question thoroughly. I knew right off that I'd picked a fabulous cruise line. Customer service is what we're all after and I wasn't disappointed.
As part of special promotions, we received a dinner at The Cover for free. In addition, because it was our anniversary, they would add in a free anniversary cake. This was a welcome surprise as we weren't planning on paying for an excursion so this was going to be the highlight of our trip.
Bahamas Celebration Review: Staff
Valet Staff
The valet staff was professional, friendly, and quick. We handed off our truck and luggage right away. This was welcoming as our luggage was heavy. In less than fifteen minutes we were walking up the pathway to the cruise line, heading for a lunch buffet. We were all smiles.
Room Steward
The Cruise Staff were amazing. Our Room steward introduced himself to us within five minutes of us walking into our room. Throughout our 2 night Cruise, he was helpful, entertaining, and absolutely the best room steward.
Bahamas Celebration Review: Dining
Lunch Buffet
As soon as you arrive on the Bahamas Celebration, head up to the 9th floor for a lunch buffet. My husband loved the buffet, I thought it was lacking. I usually don't like buffets, and this one wasn't any different. The food wasn't great. Of course, if you asked my husband, he thought the food was great. At the end of the day, it wasn't cruise-worthy.
The Cove Dining Experience
We went to dinner at The Cove. Our waiter was very friendly. I did have to ask for more drinks a few times but he brought out drinks prompt. He called me Ms. First Name and my husband, Mr. First Name. It was delightful that he remembered our names each time.
Dinner at The Cove was around 3 hours. Yep, it was very long. The dinner was a five course meal that was way too long in being prepared. Our first night had high waves making our romantic dinner experience long, minor seasick, and delicious foods.
After our main dish was prepared, we asked the waiter to go ahead and order our desserts as we couldn't wait another forty-five minutes to an hour to receive the dessert. Thankfully, just as were finishing our main dish, the dessert arrived. As an added bonus, the waiters sang to us, "Happy Anniversary." No matter how sea sick we got, we thoroughly enjoyed our Cove dining experience.
Each dish that was brought to us was better than the last. If we had had to pay for our dinner, it would have been $50. Was our wait worth it? Um... I'm not sure. But since it was free, we enjoyed every second of our evening.
The Rio Dining Experience
If you want good food, you have to go to the Rio. We had asked a few guests before eating at the Rio and were amazed at the amazing reviews. We had forgotten our ticket but saw the waiter for last night. She immediately seated us in the best seats. We ordered our drinks and headed to get our salads. After being seasick, that salad was the best salad I'd ever had. Trust me! We also got the order of shrimp which was three large pieces of shrimp sitting on a red sauce.
Ok, let me just start by saying, we could have eaten just the salad and shrimp and been happy. It was delicious! We went back for several plates of shrimp and could have gone back for more if we hadn't been so very full.
As we were eating our salad and shrimp, the meat carvers began coming by with bacon covered pork, bacon covered chicken, roast, and sausage. Let me just say, we would have been happy just eating the small portions of meat given to us. WE could have sat there all night waiting for the meat carvers to come by. That Meat Was That Good!
When our main dish arrived, I have to say it was a letdown for me. After eating such delicious foods, my beef wellington wasn't as good as all the meat brought to us. Of course, my husband told me my beef wellington was the best beef he'd ever had. Might I add that there was nothing left on my plate? Once we were finished with our main dish, we noticed people walking by with desserts.
Oh, dessert was heaven. I had a Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry. Might I say it was heaven! The bottom layer was raspberry followed by the Chocolate Mousse. On top of the chocolate was a whipped topping and toffee shaving. Oh, my goodness was it good.
Bahamas Celebration Cruise Review: Entertainment
The entertainment on the Bahamas Celebration was typical entertainment. There was a live show that was performed on both nights. If you wanted a little bingo, there was bingo for the entire family. If you wanted dancing on the top deck, there was that too. There was usually something going on every thirty minutes to the hour.
Don't worry; you get an itinerary that you will use throughout the entire cruise. You don't want to miss a single event. For us, we didn't want to spend money on the cruise so we skipped the alcohol events, the Casino, and anything that involved more spending.
There is a Lounge that is open with lounge music. I thoroughly enjoyed singing along with all the drunken folks, and they were drunk. My hubby and I had our Coca-Cola's, held hands, and enjoyed the music regardless to those around us. Was it kid friendly? Probably not. If you have younger kids, just know what is going on after 9 on the cruise.
I heard several other people who were on the cruise complaining by the lack of activities. No, this is not a very big ship. Especially, if you are accustomed to going on cruises; yet, if you are looking for a relaxing weekend, this is the perfect cruise. We found the price to be right for a weekend away from our busy lifestyles. The food overall was wonderful and our room was exquisite.
