Our lives tend be quite hum-drum. We spend most of our lives doing mundane and often very unexciting activities, day in and day out. From getting up, going to work, seeing a movie, going to a football match, eating the same junk food to coming home to watch commercial on TV, our lives soon lose the zest for life.

To alleviate this boredom, we must go out on a vacation at least once a year with/without family or friends. One of the best areas to consider are the warm tropics. Other than during the hurricane/typhoon seasons, the tropics can provide for a fantastic vacation.

The tropics have lush forests which support a variety of flora and fauna that is a pleasure to the see. The seas provide shallow areas where coral grows providing a magnificent habitat for a variety of sea life. The beaches are wide, sandy and perfect for sunbathing.

The Bahamas, made up of over 700 islands, is truly one of the very best place to visit in the tropics. The choice of place to visit is very large as the Bahamas stretch for more that 1000 kilometers, from Grand Bahama in the north to Great Inagua in South, a few miles north of Haiti. The total area of the Bahamas is in excess of 14,000 square kilometers.

The variety of sports activities available to is also as varied as the islands. There are many indoor and outdoor sporting facilities that you can enjoy. By far the most exciting are the outdoor water sports. You can go scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, wind surfing, fishing, etc. Whatever water sport you can dream of is available in the Bahamas.

You can explore many of the large islands and enjoy the fantastic views and tropical forests. A variety of local cuisine is available at many restaurants and hotels. If you are more into continental cuisine that is also easily catered for.

Do some research through the internet or visit travel agents to give a rundown of the many places and activities you can enjoy on your vacation. As with any journey, it is best that you plan your trip meticulously and book any accommodation well ahead of time.

Some airlines and hotels can offer discounts if your booking is made several months in advance.

Unless you must, avoid the tourist peak season, as you are likely to find that the cost of all services is higher than normal. After visiting the Bahamas once, you are likely to want to return again and again. It is truly a wonderful place to spend a holiday for a single person, a couple or honeymoon or a family on a well deserved vacation.
