Baja Norte, Mexico - Baja Film Studios in Rosarito Beach (Popolta) will be the location of filming for the World War II movie "The Little Boy", code name for another explosive, yet unrevealed movie title. Cast and crew are preparing for a start date of August 29, filming in Northern Baja, Mexico, with the movie due to be released in 2012, under new title.
Baja Norte will be the filming locations to depict World War II Hawaiian countryside landscapes, and California scenery from the mid-1940s. Background extras were summoned world-wide as the call went out from the SanDiegoRed.com, in both Spanish and English, with a local news release.
The press-release, "More than 2,000 extras sought for Baja movie", appeared in "The Real Baja" section of the San Diego online newspaper and flyers scattered throughout businesses in Northern Baja, Mexico. Many locals showed up for the tryouts, and were selected based upon Caucasian and Japanese "looks" necessary for realism and script matching.
