Bake Shoppe Gift Set by Philosophy - Product Review

Mrs.ALV
Because of my recent addiction to Philosophy bath and shower gels my husband was kind enough to buy me The Bake Shoppe for a Christmas present. He sure does know the way to my heart! Philosophy's The Bake Shoppe is seasonal. It's one of the many gift sets offered.

This box is so cute that my husband didn't even have to wrap it. He just stuck a bow on it. I was surprised at the quality of the box. It's made up of a very thick cardboard material, it seems very durable. The overall look is an old-fashioned bakery. The front of the box has a snowman in a top hat waiting to greet customers at the front door. On the front, right and left side are large picture windows looking inside. The displays in the windows are filled with all sorts of cakes and pastries. The back of the bakery (box) has a picture of what the set includes: a 4 oz. Raspberry Mousse ultra rich bath & shower gel, a 4 oz. Pink Frosted Layer Cake high foaming bath & shower gel, a 2 oz. Sweet Creamy Frosting ultra rich body lotion and a 0.5 oz. Raspberry Mousse Flavored Lip Shine.

The box has two parts. The roof is one part and the house is the bottom part. To open you just slip off the roof. On the inside you will find that there are two sections. To see both the top and bottom you have to separate the house at the front right corner. There are magnets on the inside to help prevent it from coming open. You will notice that all of the products are in plastic holders so once you taken everything out, you can reuse the box.

I was really impressed by the presentation of this gift set. The products were good but could have been better. I'll start with the Raspberry Mousse bath and shower gel. I do like the color which is a pretty darker neon pink color. Philosophy usually gets the scents amazingly accurate but this one fell short of my expectations. I found that the smell has an artificial smell to it and it also had a slight perfume smell. It's not anything I would imagine raspberry mousse to smell like. And since this is an ultra rich formula, I suggest not using it as a bubble bath. Try and use it for shampoo and body wash. The high foaming formulas using produce more bubbles. And with most food scented body washes from Philosophy, this one has a recipe for Raspberry Mousse on the front.

I had a little more luck with the Pink Frosted Layer Cake. This one has a cute light bubble gum pink color. It has a sweet aroma that I do like I'm just not sure how to explain it. I think the smell is a mixture of cake and frosting. Just glancing at the name you would think it would have a recipe for Pink Frosted Layer Cake but instead it has a frosting recipe. This one has a high foaming formula so it does produce a good amount of bubbles. Unfortunately they aren't pink but they do have a sweet aroma. This is definitely an example of a true 3 in 1 product. You can use it for body wash, bubble bath and shampoo.

The Sweet Creamy Frosting was another thing that I liked from the set. It's white and has a thick creamy consistency and smells like buttercream frosting. I find that it smells sort of like the Pink Frosted Layer Cake. After using the lotion my hands are left feeling soft and moisturized. Unfortunately once the lotion is applied on my skin it smells different, and not in a good way. It starts to have an artificial smell to it. And of course, keeping in Philosophy tradition, there's a recipe for sweet creamy frosting on the front.

The Raspberry Mousse Flavored Lip Shine was another product I liked from this set. It has the same artificial smell as the body wash but I find it doesn't have the same strong perfume smell. The lip shine is a slightly thick formula that isn't sticky and leaves just a sheer pink tint to your lips. It also makes your lips soft and shiny and lasts for a long time. This was my first lip shine from Philosophy and definitely it will not be my last!

Overall I love this gift set. Philosophy The Bake Shoppe would be a perfect gift for anyone looking to bathe in sweet treats. Even though there were some flaws to some of these products I would still recommend it.
