Bakersfield 2007 Interior Design Trends

Jeannie Hart
2007 Bakersfield home décor is taking cues from nature rather than from that traditional Tuscany style which has been great for Bakersfield. You'll find much softer colors on the wall and much more modern accents. Bakersfield is looking at a more contemporary look, sticking to soft blues or greens with accents of crisp white, black or chocolate. Natural woods such as oak or bamboo will really bring out the warmth in rooms adorned with such color pallets. This trend tends to offer a more relaxed frame of mind. Pale blues with crisp white accents offer a since of calmness, as muted greens with chocolate accents will make you feel refreshed.

Distinctive ethnic styles are really stepping up this year as well. There will be a lot of Indian pallets including earthy reds, browns and burnt oranges. Color rich pillows with elaborate embroidery will start to fill your local Target store soon. Also there seems to be a lot more of fabric rich accessories that will start to creep on the seen. Towards the end of the year, with all eyes focused on China for the Olympics, more rich reds, lush greens and natural woods will pop up. With these rich reds and greens you'll see the start of a more modern room trend. Cool tones and monochromatic pallets will pop with the addition of these rich reds, greens, and earthy colors.

Demure rooms with relaxation on the mind will also be trendy in 2007. Look for textures to make demure rooms more interesting. If you're sticking to modern look texture is a way to add interest while keeping a room sophisticated. Prints too can make a reserved room pop with personality. Be careful with prints though, to many and your room can go from fab to flab in no time. If want a more modern room have one bold print either on the wall or in your showcase piece of furniture. This will allow you to change your demure room while still keeping up with the trends. One bold print is easily changeable as the trends change.

Look for new recycled materials popping up as the year gets underway. This Eco friendly trend will gain momentum as we see the rise in environment awareness during 2007. You'll also find that designers are bringing more recycled materials into their lines as the year moves on. Already I am finding more and more options for living green while not sacrificing style. By the end of the year you'll really see a surge of products that are promoted as 'Eco Friendly' or 'Green Living'. You may even see more homebuilders offering 'Green Living' options towards the end of 2007.

Here are a few pointers to keep your room in style:

Hardware is the easiest to change and usually the most inexpensive. Going for sophisticated? Go with sleek silver. You can find finishes that match your style while keeping it clean and modern

Don't skimp on the accessories. Accessories can change and update your larger pieces. Spice up a room with Indian throw pillows. Find multipurpose accessories such as wall sconces that double as wall vases, art pieces or candle holders. You can add color and dimension to your space by simply adding an upholstered picture frame or some colorful candles.

Remodeling? While concrete sinks and exposed pipes are still a bit too modern for Bakersfield update your room with monochromatic colors leaving your couch, pillows and accessories to pop with color. Bright wall colors are on there way out.

Go Green. New options of flooring can mean all the difference. Instead of a new mahogany hard wood floor opt for the growing trend of bamboo flooring. Not only is it cheaper while looking great, but it grows abundantly, and quickly.
