Why's that cat trying to climb my leg?
I know, Junior, it's not your fault.
But put him out. Add egg and salt.
Mix baking powder in with the flour.
Who would be calling at this late hour?
No, I'm not interested--I'm on the list.
Now back to my cookies. What have I missed?
Cream of tartar-but I'm clean out.
Soda will substitute for it, no doubt.
Oh no! How I hate that pesky old phone.
Hello. I'm sorry you're feeling alone.
I know it's so hard to deal with your sorrow.
Why don't we meet and have coffee tomorrow?
How much flour did I use; was it one cup or two?
I'll add half a cup and that just might do.
It will be half a cup short or half a cup long
But it's better than being a whole cup wrong.
Now into the oven and hope for the best.
The taste when they come out will be the real test.
Why, these aren't even cookies, they're nuclear weapons.
No one will be likely to ask me for seconds.
I have no idea why they turned out this way
I used the same cookbook I use every day.

I love this-- were you at my house watching me bake????
Great poem. Humorous and true. I have a friend that always seems to call when I am baking or cooking.
LOL. I love this one. People always call when you're in the middle of cooking something. It never fails - especially telemarketers that won't take no for an answer until you hang up. LOL :-)
