Baking Soda: Can Do More Than You Think

Baking soda is by far one of the cheapest items you can buy with multiple uses. Until recently I had no idea that a little bit of baking soda could do so much. One of the most common uses is to add it to your laundry. By adding 1 cup of baking soda with your detergent your clothes will get up to 25% cleaner. There are many obvious uses for baking soda but there are many more that are less obvious. With the use of baking soda, you may be able to eliminate most of your hazardous cleaning supplies. This is especially important with small children in the home, simply because children tend to put everything in their mouths.

Deodorize your house with baking soda. You can safely eliminate odors in your home with a small amount of baking soda. When you place it into your trash cans and garbage pails, drains, and dishwashers you can help remove that stale smell. It will also safely remove crayon from your walls. Simply apply baking soda to a damp sponge and rub gently to remove stains.

The best use thus far that I have found for baking soda is washing stainless steel items. It really shines them nicely. You can also use baking soda to clean your entire kitchen and bathroom, with the exception of glass. It removes grease and film without scratching delicate surfaces. You can easily clean the microwave with water and baking soda with no harmful residues, you simply rinse well with water.

On a daily basis I use baking soda to brush my teeth with, I have a container in my medicine cabinet that I dip my toothbrush into after I have put toothpaste on my brush. I have found that this helps clean my teeth and whiten my teeth.You can also use baking soda for keeping your pool sparkling clean. It lowers the eye irritation that chlorine causes. It still provides the necessary alkalinity but will not burn your eyes. Don't forget to buy a few small boxes to places in your fridge and freezer to keep your food fresh. This usually needs to be changed out every thirty days.

I had no idea until recently that baking soda can be used to exfoliate your skin, clean your hair of residual hairspray and products, clean your hair brushes and combs as well as a deodorant. The use of baking soda to exfoliate your skin can be used safely for everyday use. To exfoliate your skin, simply make a paste of three parts baking soda and one part water, mix into a paste and apply to the skin, rub and rinse.

If you wash your hair on occasion with your shampoo and a small amount of baking soda you can remove the residue build up in your hair. After this you should have cleaner and easier to manage hair. You can also use baking soda to clean your brushes and combs by soaking them in baking soda and water. If you are looking for a quick odor absorbing deodorant rub some baking soda under your arms, it should last you all day.

This is for the male counterparts and mechanically inclined females in our lives; baking soda has multiple uses in the garage. You can remove oil and grease stains from the floor. However large or older stains may be more difficult to remove. You can also remove the potent smells from your vehicle by sprinkling baking soda on the carpet and fabric. Allow the soda to set for fifteen minutes before vacuuming. Baking soda can also clean dirty ashtrays and remove the smell that they can leave in your car. Simply sprinkle baking soda into an empty ashtray and empty as necessary, sprinkling more baking soda inside the ashtray. Don't forget to wash your car; you can easily remove grime and dirt with ΒΌ cup of baking soda into a quart of warm water. Now, once you have done all that you can wash your hands clean with three parts baking soda and one part water, to safely remove grease and dirt.

You can literally save hundreds of dollars by using baking soda to clean almost anything in your home. Not to mention that using baking soda is safe for the environment, your family and pets .
