Dennis Nahat is phenomenal as the artistic director of Ballet San Jose. I began going as a young girl and have grown up loving the performances. I look forward to "The Nutcracker" at Christmas time, and "Swan Lake" near the New Year. I have also seen this company perform many other ballets including "Phaedra" and "The Firebird." ("The Firebird" is one of my personal favorites from the 2005 season. Click the link and it will show a cached website from that time.)
This upcoming season includes "The Nutcracker" performance from Dec. 11 through Dec. 26, 2010. If you have never seen the Ballet San Jose perform this one, then you need to see it to believe it. It is truly beautiful. Dennis Nahat takes you through the magical journey and you feel as if you are inside the story, not just watching it.
"Swan Lake" is another favorite of mine. This is another wonderful story that is told in a mesmerizing way. Just as with "The Nutcracker," you feel part of the story. The amount of characters on stage, combined with the gorgeous costumes, makes this a must-see event. This season the performances are from Feb. 25 through Feb. 27, 2011. Tickets go on sale Jan. 3, 2011. It is extremely popular, so get your tickets early.
Ballet San Jose will also be performing "Giselle" Oct. 22 through Oct. 24, 2010. If you don't have plans this spring, Ballet San Jose will perform "Carmen" April 1 through April 3, 2011.
Ballet San Jose is such a wonderful experience that I recommend it to anyone, of any age. Click on their website and bookmark it. This is one site you will want to visit frequently to get the latest on their performances. See you there!
