Banana Cereal Review: Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal

This Cereal Tastes a Lot like Banana Nut Bread

While visiting a friend I was offered a bowl of cereal. I was familiar with the cereal because my family use to get it on a regular basis when I was a teenager. The cereal was Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal. Even though I had tried it before I was not completely sure how well I liked it because I couldn't remember what I thought of its taste. So even though it wasn't a new cereal to me it certainly was close to new. Here is what I thought of the banana cereal after tasting it again.

It had been years since I had tasted Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal so I really had not idea what to expect. After taking a couple bites it came back to me that I enjoy this cereal. I can't say that it is my favorite Post Selects cereal or anything but I definitely enjoy eating it. It reminds me of some banana bread in it tastes in both the clusters and flakes in it. I was also really enjoying the walnut pieces that were in it, or at least I thought that they were walnut pieces. To verify that and just because I was curious I asked my friend if I could look over the ingredients, which they said was fine and so I did.

The Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal is made up of whole grain wheat, whole grain rolled oats, sugar, walnuts, brown sugar, high oleic vegetable oil, rice flour, dried bananas, corn syrup, rice, salt, wheat flour, malted barley flour, whey, soy lecithin, natural flavor, caramel color, and BHT which is added as preservative. The ingredient list also included that the vitamins and minerals reduced iron, niacinamide, zinc oxide, vitamin B6, vitamin A palmitate, riboflavin, thiamin mononitrate, folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin D. I thought that these ingredients looked pretty good. Since I already had the box in my hand I looked over the nutrition facts as well.

In a cup of Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal there is two hundred and forty calories with fifty calories from fat. There is also two hundred and thirty milligrams of sodium in every cup of this cereal as well as forty-four grams of carbohydrates, twelve grams of sugars, five grams of protein and four grams of fiber. Not surprisingly the minerals and vitamins portion of the nutrition facts stated that there was two percent for calcium, ten percent for copper, zinc, magnesium and vitamin D, fifteen percent for vitamin A, twenty percent for phosphorus, twenty-five percent for vitamins B12 and B6, niacin, riboflavin and thiamin, fifty percent for folic acid and ninety percent for iron. So not only did this cereal taste good but also it was healthy for you.

My friend told me that they paid two dollars and fifty cents for the Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal. I didn't ask if it was on sale but I thought that this was a pretty good price for cereal. The box contained about seven cups worth of banana nut cereal or about seven servings. This way if you were to eat the serving size the box would last you an entire week. That is about thirty-seven cents for a bowl of cereal, minus the cost of milk of course. I don't plan on getting this cereal myself but I'll keep my eye out for the other Post Selects cereals just for fun. I would recommend for anyone who likes banana nut bread to give this cereal a try. If banana bread is not for you this cereal probably isn't either.
