Bananas are good for you.

I know that I am on a kick to eat healthier. I have noticed that I have gone from an energetic young woman to one who doesn't much mind sitting on the couch late at night and watching a movie. I recently joined a gym and I am truly trying to do more with my body and my health. So I have taken into looking at the benefits of different food items and how they would help me as I grow older.

Lo and behold I came across all the benefits of a healthy snack called a banana. I knew that I liked them as a kid, just didn't realize that they were actually healthy to me.

Things to know about a banana:

1. Never put a banana in the refrigerator
2. Bananas contain three natural sugars, sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. This combination will provide your body with a boost of energy
3. Before you exercise try eating two bananas the extra energy will help maintain a energy boost during your program
4. Bananas help with bouts of depression. The banana contains tryptophan that the body converts to serotonin and this allows you to relax and improve your mood.
5. The banana contains vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 helps to regulate blood glucose levels and this can also affect your mood.
6. Bananas are high in iron content and can help to stimulate the hemoglobin's in the blood.
7. Bananas are high in potassium yet low in salt, so if you suffer from high blood pressure this might be your fruit of choice.
8. Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you have a tummy ache try eating a banana
9. Have a hangover, make a banana milkshake with honey. The banana will calm the stomach and the honey will help to build up the sugar levels. The Milk shake will rehydrate your system
10. Bananas can also help with Seasonal Affective Disorder, the banana helps these suffers because the banana contains the mood enhance tryptophan.

So you see that bananas are not just that fruit that comes in a bunch and sits so pretty on top of your fruit bowl. It really is a healthy addition to your diet. So enjoy.
