I'm those type of people who loves to eat fruits and vegetables but there's only one thing that bothers me. Sometimes, the food don't last that long! Either by the time you want to eat it or use it, they already start to smell or turn color. Some foods you have to buy them in a set, like bananas. Banana sets are usually a lot and they're pretty cheap. I didn't want to waste any of my bananas since they were so yummy and they also cost money too. So what I did was took a freezer Ziploc plastic bag and put my bananas in there. Everyday, I would eat one.
Keeping the bananas in the freezer Ziploc plastic bag keeps them twice as long. Remember, it's the freezer plastic bags and not just any regular plastic bags. Also, you should never ever put the bananas in the refrigerator. They will turn brown and that will waste so much. The reason I used the freezer Ziploc plastic bags is because they are more thicker. The plastic is more thicker and can protect the freshness of the fruit better. The freezer Ziploc plastic bags will keep the freshness inside the bag only. Freezer Ziploc plastic bags also don't cost that much. So while you're trying to save your fruit, you're also saving money because you're not going to buy more bananas sooner than you thought. My mom is always like, "why are you always putting the bananas in the Ziploc plastic bags?". Then I told her that it keeps the bananas fresher and last longer. I guess some people are surprise about the Ziploc plastic bags but some people are not. Keeping the bananas in the bags that they were in when you bought them also keeps them longer lasting.
So you don't need those Debbie Meyers green plastic bags just to keep them lasting longer, you can find your own ways. The Debbie Meyers green plastic bags do make them stay fresh but would you want to waste a lot of money each time to just buy them. There's not even a lot in those bags. I would suggest you getting the freezer Ziploc plastic bags because they have like three to four times the amount of bags that the Debbie Meyers bags have. If you're rich and you don't care about pricing, then just use whatever you want. Also, if you want those bananas that are still green to ripe faster, put an apple and banana in a bag. The next day, you 'll see that they ripe faster already. So, keep in mind that if you want to keep your bananas lasting longer, use freezer Ziploc plastic bags.

Post a Commentthe bags trap ethelyne causing the bananas to in fact ripen too fast, whereas the fridge will cause them to stay fresh but to decompose into a gray tasteless form. best bet is to leave them on the counter in a cool but not cold place with no bag at all.
well i did an experiment for my science project where i stuck bananas in ziploc bags and also in the fridge. the ones in the ziploc bag kept a great yellow color, but were severely mushy. the ones in the refridgerator where black, but still firm and edible on the inside.
Great advice! Thanks for sharing and welcome to AC. :)
