Band Review: Circuit

Hi guys and gals,
I'm here to review my latest finding - Circuit - Ottawa's newest rock band. Circuit is a great band, and they have decent songs and lyrics to go along. I like a lot about them, but I also dislike a few things. Overall, I'd have to say they are great!

When I was driving through Ottawa (Canada for all you geographically challenged people) last week, I was listening to my favorite station - Hot 89.9. They do an "upcoming bands" contest, where the radio station plays an on-air battle between two songs. The challenger this week was a band called Circuit.

Now I've never really heard Circuit, but I guess that could be explained by the band being fairly new. They are supposedly locals from Ottawa, and they are blowing up pretty big in the states. Anyway, every night for 5 nights, the station plays Circuit up against a top hit. The listeners send text messages to the radio station saying which song they liked better. Circuit's song they chose to air was "Better Part of Me".

I wasnt expecting anything too good, but this was actually decent. The lyrics seemed to flow with the music very nicely, and it had a pretty cool melody. Usually on these upcoming band contests, you hear a new local band with a terrible sound quality. Not Circuit - Circuit seemed to be professionally recorded, and quite frankly, if the station had never announced that Circuit was new, I wouldn't have known.

By the end of the song, I felt required to send my message to the station. The lyrics were great, the melody was great - everything! The only thing I didn't like, was the song seemed a bit repetitive... But no worries, the rest of the song made up for it. I found a new band that I must add to my collection.

The next day, I bought their CD at Best Buy. Its titled "Eau de Humanity". I listened to every song on the drive home. I must say that the music is great, and every song holds a significant value to me. The lyrics in a few of their songs really got to me, and I could understand what they were singing about. I think that is the best kind of music - The songs that you can relate to.

So, my final rating for this hot upcoming band is an 8 / 10. I definitely recommend anyone with taste for alternative rock to check these guys out. They are great! I really think these guys are going to make it big!
