Banish Blackheads the Natural Way!

Let's face it, we all want unblemished skin. Looking at magazine covers where the models and actresses have had their skin photoshopped within an inch of their lives certainly does not help our plight, or our self-esteem. The reality of it is, that while there are a lucky few born with porcelain and practically poreless skin, the rest of us have our blemishes and are always looking for ways to make them disappear.

Some of the peskiest forms of skin blemishes are the notorious blackheads. They are unattractive, and truth be told, make those of us who suffer from them feel a little dirty. No matter how hard you may try to scrub those ugly blemishes away, the hang on for dear life. So what can we do to make blackheads disappear once and for all? The answer is easier then you think. While you can buy products at your local drugstore or mass retailer that promise to get rid of your blackheads overnight, they more often then not, will leave you with dried out skin and some irritation. The best remedies for kicking blackheads out of your life are natural ones. They work, they are safe, and they won't leave your skin looking roughed up and dried out.

Possibly the simplest and most effective blackhead remover is lemon juice. This is a beauty secret of models and make-up artists and it works. Simply squeeze the juice from a lemon into a small dish, soak a cotton ball in the juice and pat it onto the areas of your skin where blackheads tend to congregate. Do this two to three times a day until you notice that the blackheads are gone. Lemon juice works to shrink your pores, and small pores have less chance of accumulating sebum and grime, hence, no more blackheads.

While Epsom salts are lauded for their ability to help relax tense muscles, they are also oftentimes recommended by naturopaths to aid in skin upsets. Mixing Epsom salts in warm water and using the solution on your face can help get rid of blackheads as well as pimples. The saltwater mixture is effective in loosening up your pores after which you can use a face puff or gentle exfoliating scrub to clean deep into your pores in order to dislodge and wash away blackheads.

You can use baking soda in much the same way as Epsom salts to clear up your skin. Dissolve 3-4 tablespoons of baking soda in warm water, creating a thick paste that you can use to massage onto your skin. Try to use a circular motion while massaging the affected areas for at least 5 minutes and then rinse. You should see your blackheads diminish almost instantly. Repeat this treatment until the blackheads are completely eradicated.

In order to prevent future blackhead breakouts, it is important to keep your face clean at all times. This is particularly true for people with oilier skin. Using a gentle exfoliating wash once a day is a fantastic way to keep your pores clean and clear.

Blackheads are unsightly and unwelcomed, and with a few easy steps, we can naturally get rid of them for good.
