Bank of America Cuts WikiLeaks Funds

Charlotte based Bank of America has decided it will refuse to handle any payments for WikiLeaks, joining other financial institutions in cutting ties with the controversial activist site.

Bank of America announced it will no longer handle WikiLeaks funds.

"This decision is based upon our reasonable belief that WikiLeaks may be engaged in activities that are, among other things, inconsistent with our internal policies for processing payments," Bank of America said.

WikiLeaks responded on Twitter by calling for sympathizers to close their Bank of America accounts.

"We ask that all people who love freedom close out their accounts at Bank of America," WikiLeaks tweeted.

In the past few weeks WikiLeaks supporters have tried high-profile cyber attacks against companies that refused to handle their funds anymore. In addition, WikiLeaks has longed claimed to hold thousands of Bank of America secret files in its possession.

This must be why B of A just informed us of additional fees if we pay our house payment from a different bank. They want us to have an account with their bank to pay the money, which will then still be a no-fee payment. Great report.
