Banks Seize 288,000 Homes: Who's at Fault?

Banks seized 288,000 houses yesterday, which is another staggering report from Yahoo News of the direction of our country. Foreclosures at every turn will mean more people will be turned out on the streets and fewer jobs will be seen in future weeks and months. What is the catalyst for these astounding economic woes? Who's at fault? Is it the Democrats or Republicans? Or could it be the banks or the homeowners? You decide.

In a recent article with Time Magazine, President Obama was reported to say that he had no regrets about the direction of his presidency. Somehow, this is amazing to hear when we look all around us at the current state of America. Go to the shores of California, then off to the hills of Kentucky - you will still be amazed as you hit the Tennessee Smoky Mountains ... What do you see?

Loss of jobs, economic turmoil, poverty, frustration, fear ... we could go on and on about the emotions of Americans right now. You will find a people who are desperate for a change that will bring health and prosperity for our country. The other side would say that the country was and is headed in this current, downhill direction with or without the President's direction. You decide.

Whether or not President Obama is at fault isn't really the issue. He's the President, at least until 2012. Then the people get to decide, just as they do in the November elections. One issue we could begin to see as a big issue for our country is why our president hasn't seemed to understand the people, their fears, their hopes, and their failures. If so, the excess spending in Washington would have stopped. We would have seen someone in the White House take the initiative to stop spending that could take Washington into foreclosures, the same way we are seeing everyday Americans end up.

What we now see in the faces of Americans is that they've lost complete confidence in the last 18 months of Obama's presidency. The truth is that people are nervous, scared, and downright afraid of what the future holds. Could President Obama be at the center of their worries? You decide.

We all remember his ambitious speeches of hope and change back in 2008. You remember when President Obama talked about job security and hope to middle Americans like you and me? What happened to that amazing man we all heard during the elections? Where is that person who spoke hope to millions of Americans? It's funny, really. The President of the United States should be the one speaking hope to the nation now. Those same speeches -- where are they? What happened to that man who won out Americans in amazing turnouts?

Obama is now the leader of the United States of America. He is my president. He's your president. We should look to him for comfort and reassurance that everything will be alright. We want to hear him say, "It's all right. We just need to buckle down, spend less, and look for a brighter day." Yet we aren't hearing those words. Instead, spending in Washington is at an all-time high.

The problem with Obama's ambitious thought process is that he isn't speaking the same Hope Speeches he once did. How could he? Job loss is on everyone's minds nowadays. The economy, which isn't all that great, is on everyone's minds. Failure of the Obama administration is on everyone's minds.

What do you think now about President Obama? Can he get the country back on track before 2012? Where does a president go and what does he say when he has failed this country? Or maybe America has failed with or without him; either way, America isn't happy. Could he go to the American people and admit failure and make changes that Americans really want? If you go to Cape Coral, Florida, you will find citizens saying what is on the rest of Americans' minds. They are saying that President Obama needs to listen to the people. Cape Coral has one of the biggest increases in poverty in cities across America. Cape Coral knows what it feels like to be on top of the world, then suddenly crash into a sea of unemployment, foreclosures, and job loss. Cape Coral is America as we know it today.

We've seen President Obama go to small cities and backyard barbecues to tap into the middle America, but is he really tapping into the Cape Coral cities of America? Cape Coral isn't the only city hit hard. We could travel the country and wouldn't find one city untouched from the ravaging impacts of Obama's presidency. Could we possibly see President Obama travel to cities like Cape Coral? Will he see America for what it is and admit failure?

You see, we can only change when we admit our mistakes. We tell our toddlers this fact when they've done something wrong. Sit in your chair until you can apologize. Yet our President stands by his presidency and his methods. Now, Americans have the ability to choose if they agree or disagree with him. We get to decide.
