Banning Sex Offenders From the Internet:It's About Time

About Time

Ashby Koss
I thought that all the issues with sex offenders had been solved. The issue of whether or not they have a right to live where they want to was the last issue I can remember. It seems now that there is some new news to the stirred pot. After all these years and everyone talking about protecting others against sex offenders being the umber one priority, sex offenders have been handed a new rule. This rule is long overdue, a few days ago the rule was handed out that all sex offender were to be banned from the internet or at least heavily monitored.

Well it is about damn time that someone thought about technology and figured out that the internet is an unending source of information good and bad. These sex offenders have or at one time had some mental issues that changed how they saw things. They also found ways to feed these issues, the internet obviously has been a source of these feedings for years. I can not even count how many times I have heard about the internet being involved in some form of abduction, sexual offense, or crime. The real surprise here is not that this rule was handed out, the surprise is that it took this long fr the rule to be put in place.

In this day and age people will complain about anything, especially mothers or parents who think that there may be some "grave injustice" to their child. These are the same people that not too long ago pressured that sex offenders needed to be registered and kept track of even after their jail term. These are also the people that will take up arms against an elementary teacher for a speeding ticket saying they should be made to walk to work instead of driving around their child. Well that last past was an exaggeration but these are those type of people, and it still took this long for a simple internet control rule to be put in place for sex offenders.

From the very beginning of this issue I have maintained the attitude of complete agreement, and I still do. Where on Earth do these sex offenders believe that they have some sort of "right" to use the Internet? The Internet is not new to technology, and has been used for years for the wrong and right purposes, but never has there been any form of "right" given to the use of Internet connection. I feel that any sex offender that even remotely believe that there is some "right" associated with having Internet access should be thrown back in front of a judge. If the sex offender thinks this way then obviously there is still some mental issues in some form, and when dealing with sex offenders even the smallest mental issue is call for alarm.

There is nothing wrong with banning sex offenders from using the internet. Humans have gotten around ding business without the Internet for centuries. The only thing wrong about this issue is that it is even an issue. Sex offenders had their rights taken away for being a sex offender, I really wonder what makes them think that they deserve the luxury of the Internet.
