The product I am referring to is the Banquet Brand Homestyle Bake in the Asian Style Fried Rice variety. Preparation for this meal took less than five minutes to complete and better yet all I had to do was open a few packages, add some water and cover it with foil. After preheating the oven to 425 degrees it was time to wait the 30-35 minutes for the meal to be fully cooked. During that wait I began to look for alternatives for dinner in case this did not turn out to be edible.
When the timer went off and we sat down for dinner I found myself amazed that something that took me less than five minutes to prepare tasted just as good as something that had taken much longer. My first impression was that it had a very strong smell of soy sauce. The smell came from the seasoning packet that water was added to during preparation. While the smell was quite strong it was not unappealing. Upon tasting the Asian Style Fried Rice there was a background taste of ginger as well as a salty flavor from the soy sauce type seasoning. The mixture of chicken, carrots, and peas which came packaged in a can added a nice mixture of vegetables and seasoning to the meal. In just under 35 minutes I put a meal on the table that satisfied my husband and I.
According to the packaging this dinner can be prepared in the oven, on the stove, or even in the microwave which makes it more versatile than many other prepackaged dinners. Also the nutrition and serving sizes listed on the box say there are 4 servings in each box and each serving contains 250 calories. Pair Homestyle bake with a salad and you should be able to satisfy your family.
Banquet's Asian Style Fried Rice Homestyle Bakes are manufactured by ConAgra foods and can be found in most grocery stores near the pasta aisle. Banquet Homestyle Bakes retail for around $3.00-$4.00 per box. Don't let the inexpensive price fool you into thinking the food will be as bland as the cardboard box it is packaged in.
In my opinion, this meal provides a full-flavor taste that will satisfy anyone who enjoys Asian-style foods. I will definitely be purchasing this product again in the future and can't wait to try the rest of the Homestyle Bakes line.
