Banquet Pepperoni Pizza Meal: There's A Reason They Were Fifty Cents

Miss Fortune
Banquet frozen meals can be a quick snack when you are in a hurry; unless you buy the mondo sized ones you can't really call them a "meal" even though most have enough calories and carbohydrates to make you want to trash it and grab a salad. My local grocery store had the Pepperoni Pizza Meals on sale for fifty cents, that's half the normal price. I checked the best by date printed on the end tab and they were good until November of 2011 so I figured I'd stock up on them. I have the feeling they are going to be sitting in the freezer for a while.

The pizza isn't bad but it is microwaved and it is a small portion. I'd rather open two or three packages and put all the slices in the toaster oven instead of microwaving them. The chocolate pudding was what really irked me. It was not liquid the way pudding should be. It came out of the microwave like raw brownie dough or cake - thick but not solid. Sorry, that isn't pudding to me. One Pepperoni Pizza dinner contains 310 calories, 12 grams of fat, 47 grams of carbohydrates and 11 grams of protein. These can be cooked in the microwave or regular oven and there are instructions for both methods of cooking on the back of the package.

About the only good thing about this frozen meal was the inclusion of a Feeding America code on the back of the box. Redeeming the code at the ChildHungerEndsHere.com website will receive a donation towards purchasing food and meals for local food banks. This runs through August 31, 2001 and can earn local food banks up to 2.5 million meals. Hats off to ConAgra for joining in this program and helping out those in need. The code only take a couple seconds to enter and trust me, you will feel good knowing you are helping out with this amazing program.
