Bar Brawls and Winos

If you had a purse and were out on the town or just doing some shopping in the Fort Greene area last weekend, it probably wasn't your best day. Two incidents last weekend both involved sneaky purse-snatchings!

On November 5, an unsuspecting victim was simply doing her job when a thief stole her purse from behind the counter at Greene Grape. The wine store, which is located on Fulton Street between South Portland and South Oxford, is usually a pretty safe place to work. The purse was stolen at about 8:45 AM. What a way to start your weekend at work!

Sunday, November 7 wasn't a much better day for purses. During a typical bar brawl at Frank's Lounge, also on Fulton Street, a woman's handbag was taken from a chair. The fight broke out at about 1:50 AM and lasted only minutes but enough time had passed for the quick-moving thief to make it out of there with $600 in cash, a credit card, and a passport.
