Whiskey Blue is one of those New York City bars that you can only describe using the following words: sexy, trendy, posh, luxurious and sexy. (Yes, it deserves two sexys)
I work in the neighborhood and I first went to Whiskey Blue in December 2007. Our Christmas party was at a nearby Indian restaurant and we had some time to kill and believe me--I wish I would have killed it along with my soul. Our company employees (at that time) consisted of me (a Texas transplant of 7 years), a blond bombshell, a ghetto girl, a CEO from London and her husband, and two country home North Carolinians. Oy!
We entered the glamorous bar and I ordered a chocolate martini--everyone else orders Budweiser or Coors and I believe there was a request for moonshine. I looked around and the people entering just got sexier and sexier. Am I on the set for America's Next Top Model? Where is Tyra hiding? I thought, "I belong." Then I remembered, "I don't really drink." And with that--the martini kicked in and I began to slur my words and my thoughts were fuzzy--as if I were Jessica Simpson.
I came back two weeks ago (July 08) with a new set of coworkers--these guys were ready for a drink after a long corporate presentation on "how we suck at our jobs," so I recommended the place. We walked in around 5:30 p.m. on a Tuesday and the bar had a few people inside enjoying their New York minutes. I knew to stay away from the martinis so instead I ordered a shandy (thank you GQ).
Not too many people know what a shandy is-- 1/2 beer and 1/2 lemonade and it's more commonly ordered in Europe. It's not so common here in the USA and by the dirty looks I get when ordering it and the laughs I have to put up with from friends--I know that my mission as a trend setter is not an easy one.
Whiskey Blue is the perfect place to come for a nice chat with workers (to complain about work) or with friends (to complain about work) or to meet sexy strangers (to complain about work). Our beers were $9.00 but I guess you're really paying for the sexiness.
The staff is friendly and also on the sultry side. I had a conversation with a sexy female bartender who was a mix between Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey and Melissa Rivers. I know...weird combo but it worked--and trust me--she was hot.
If you're ever in the hood, text me and I will come along for a drink--make mine a shandy.

Post a CommentSexiness for $9.00...cheaper than a gallon of gas (at least for this minute)...seems like a bargain to me. Where I live, the only thing selling for $9.00 is shallowness, a quickie, and cheap champagne;(...not that I'd know anything about that.
