Barack the Magic Negro Lyrics

Here Are the "Barack the Magic Negro" Lyrics

Tracy McCoy
"Puff, the Magic Dragon" brings back memories, doesn't it? This song sticks in your head. Come on, dare you to start humming it. Barack the Magic Negro is sung to the same tune. Barack the Magic Negro originally aired on Rush Limbaugh's radio program, back in 2007, according to an article in The Age.

Barack the Magic Negro was written and performed in response to a March 2007 Opinion piece by David Ehrenstein in the Los Angeles Times. In it, Ehrenstein apparently says that voting for Barack Obama would help white voters alleviate guilt over past racial wrongdoings.

Barack the Magic Negro is in the news again because it has been made part of a 41 song compilation CD by conservative comedian Paul Shanklin and presented as a Christmas gift from Chip Saltsman. Chip Saltsman is a Republican National Committee member, and he gave the CD to fellow RNC members. The gift has caused a lot of controversy and is seen by some as racist, even though it was performed as satire.

Following is the first verse of the lyrics, so you can judge for yourself. You can hear the full song here from RushLimbaugh.com , where it debuted. (Note: Windows Audio format).

PAUL SHANKLIN (Al Sharpton impersonator):

Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

'Cause he's not authentic like me.

Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper

Said he makes guilty whites feel good

They'll vote for him, and not for me

'Cause he's not from the hood.

Listen to the rest here.

Well it has been more than a year now, and the "magic" is gone...all that's left is the Negro.

I once heard somewhere that it was not just the whites selling slaves,
other black people in Africa were the ones selling their people to the whites.
I don't really see the issue of this song,
the last president was insulted, called stupid, and I am pretty sure his last name (bush) was refereed to in the offensive sense once, and I think they made him look similar to a monkey at least once.
Why is it fair that one president can be insulted based on his looks or actions and another one can't.
Barack is not even a full african american, his mother was white.
that would make him the first mixed race president. Not full black.

And as far as the "cracker" mcCorruption goes...he was a willing communist propaganda collaborator who most likely was responsible for every American serviceman who died on the USS Forrestal, July 29, 1967. McCunnie very likely killed more American servicemen than any 200 "gooks" combined killed. Just my opinion about a pubic...excuse me...public...figure.

Otero is not the first african-american...he is the first African to become the president of America.

Paul Shanklin's song has nothing to do with African-Americans in the media, which is what the LA Times article was about.

So it's pretty clear that he just needed an excuse to call Obama a "negro."

Beware: I think that Mr. TYTY was stating that he is offended by "McCain the magic cracker". I don't think TYTY was making the statement. I personally am not offended by "racist" comments from the whites or the african-Americans. What DOES offend me, is the declaration of Mr. Obama as the "first African-Amerian President". In my opinion, humble though it may be, if you are the leader of these great United States Of America, you should be AMERICAN, PERIOD. All the hyphenated-Americans are doing nothing to mend the division between the citizens of the U.S. If you were born a citizen, or have earned your citizenship otherwise; YOU ARE NOW AN AMERICAN; be proud of it, or renouce it and LEAVE. Up to this point, every President of the United State has been an American, Obama is no different.

All you people are idiots! What makes it right for you to call us crackers, but it is not right for us to call you Niggers? It is a double standard! I am so sick of you people thinking that we owe you something. You are the same as us, just a different color. It isn't our fault slavery happened! We didn't do it and we can't help what happened in the past! So get over your selves already! It is a joke and that is all!

I enjoy the guilt ridden and permanently scowling (and quite likely white liberals) objecting to the parody. What irks them is someone has the nerve to point what the Los Angeles Times printed is essentially true ... as it describes our almighty Lord Obama.

  • Beware 12/30/2008

Mr TYTY...you refer to McCain as the "Magic Cracker"...Yep, you're Mr "politically Correct" and supposedly a follower of Christ??? I beg to differ on both accounts...you're no better than the rest!

  • Very Sad 12/30/2008

This is racist at its core. A real black man according to this singer is either a member of the Nation of Islam or Snoop Dog a disgusting rapper. Its obvious that the singer is trying to immitate what he thinks a black man should sound like. And to the writer above, this has nothing to do with Political Correctness, but everything to do with common decency. An "authentic" black man does not hate jews like a certain leader who was mentioned in the song and not all like Rap. Personally, I like classical but that is another story. Republicans need to wake up if they ever want to be a political force again. You need black people, you need hispanic people, you need asian people in your party. Because like it or not "They Are All Americans". I consider myself more of an independent but I will never vote Republican for President because of the Racist crap like this that Spews so freely from your party unchecked
