Barack Obama Birthday Gate: Obama Birth Certificate Dispute

Today is Senator Barack Obama's birthday, which at the age 47 makes him a youngin' in the presidential campaign. Yet, four presidents took office at a younger age: Theodore Roosevelt 42, John F. Kennedy 43, William J Clinton 46 and Ulysses S. Grant 46. For some voters, however, it is not Barack Obama's birthday that is relevant but whether or not Obama's birth certificate is authentic.

Behind the Barack Obama Birth Certificate Controversy

An arguably marginal, but dedicated, group of Clinton and McCain supporters, such as P.U.M.A., are wondering whether Barack Obama's birth certificate is a fake and have recently released so-called evidence to support the dispute.

An outrageous question it would seem at first blush --for faking a birth certificate would not only represent fraud, it would be the crime of the century for a presidential candidate to undertake.

Still it appears something is amiss with the version released on the liberal blog site, The Daily Kos -- regardless of Obama's involvement or lack thereof.

On the Larry Johnson's No Quarter website (see Sources) -- no friend to Obama -- a person with the moniker TechDude, who claims to be a forensic specialist, is causing quite a stir. TechDude claims a number of relevant proficiencies, not limited to: "20 years experience in the computer field; performing computer forensic investigations since 1993. Board certified as a forensic computer examiner and for the previous six years also licensed as a private investigator. A certificated legal investigator, served close to 6 years under the direction of a practicing attorney." (noquarterusa.net)

TechDude announced yesterday that he knows the identity of the person whose birth certificate has been altered to present as a legitimate copy of Obama's Certificate of Live Birth on The Daily Kos website.

Until now, questioning whether Obama's birth certificate is legitimate seemed like misplaced energy at best. Currently, it has become interesting in that an ultimatum has been given that purports to expose the legitimate birth certificate holder's identity unless "she" comes clean.

However ill-conceived, a concerted amount of strategic effort has gone into the Obama birthday document analysis. What appears to be altercations to the copy of Obama's birth certificate are shown in great detail with scientific, or at least visual, authority. Several flaws are pointed out including the "security border", ghosted lettering and other artifacts.

If readers can follow the sarcastic instructions --using an image editor like GIMP or Photoshop -- they can download the documents in question and try to reproduce the questionable results.

This in itself doesn't legitimize the claim that the Obama birth certificate is a fake, but it is clear the document evokes questions of authenticity -- perhaps explained by less nefarious reasons.

McCain and Obama Birthday Gate

Questioning the constitutional right for a candidate to run for president is not new. "In February, The New York Times published a report calling into question the legality of McCain's presidential run" and Senator McCaskill (for herself and Leahy, Obama, Coburn, Clinton and Webb) introduced a resolution to recognize McCain as a natural born citizen. Regardless of the controversy, Barack Obama seems to be enjoying a happy birthday. As to ending the birth certificate controversy it would seem easy enough to resolve. The answer is for Obama to simply provide a copy of his certificate of live birth on the Barack Obama website or to a reputable party other than a liberal blog.

Otherwise, if you like to play investigative games, the site is worth a look to analyze the birthday document for yourself.
