Barack Obama Comes to Detroit to Bring Back 'the American Dream'

Grand Blanc, Michigan -- Presidential hopeful Barack Obama came to Michigan on Sunday to assure the people of Detroit that if he were elected, we'd see the results. Detroit has been one of the many cities ripped apart by economic struggles across the nation.

The crowd in front of the Detroit Public Library was quite large. Supporters held up signs in support of change and a stronger nation and more importantly for the people, a better state. The visit by Obama and Joe Biden in my opinion raised the bar for what will be a historical election.

The rally began with Biden opening for Barack. During his speech, he taught us some facts about John McCain and his opposed views on economic help, such as unemployment and spending money to send jobs abroad when our own nation needs those jobs. Detroit has suffered great job loss due to GM sales hitting lows and plants across the state closing. Biden's words drew in several boos about the Republican. Each time, the shouts only grew louder and more intense as he laid out all the negative aspects of McCain becoming president.

Then it was time for Mr. Obama to take the stage. As he was introduced, Biden had warmed the crowd up immensely and the cheers grew ever so strong as he took the stage.

Obama of course touched on various subjects that are becoming even more of a concern than ever. One no doubt was the war. Both Biden and Obama stressed the carelessness the current administration has had over a once supported, now unpopular, war which has cost us both money and dignity as a nation.

Towards the end of Obama's speech, he could leave you wondering what's really going on with the Republican party. What he said really can make the joiners of the group stop and say "Hm!"

"They will fight to the nail for the next 5 weeks and then for the next 5 years to keep things just the way they are," he said. "I'm running for president because we simply cannot afford 4 more years of the failed economic policy."

Barack Obama showed a love for proper education from an early age on and a love to make sure the people of our nation have their savings and have stable jobs.

"Our children are looking at a mountain of debt because of our irresponsibility," he continued with silence drawn over the Obama supporters soaking up every last word.

Many countries look down upon us. We once could stand proud as the strongest country economically. Obama proclaimed he's running for president to keep our jobs in the U.S. including manufacturing jobs and knows that America can battle back from the troubles we face as we have done it time and time again.

"That's why it's not called Joe's dream or Barack's dream or Sally's dream or Mike's dream. It's called the American Dream because everybody's invested in it," he said with roars or approval. "It's made us a beacon around the world," he said about foreigners migrating to the U.S. to make a solid life for themselves.

"Think about how we got here," he said. "I never got to go to college, but I bet my child can go to college. I never got to start my own business, but maybe my child can start their own business," he stated. "I might live in a small village, but someday my son might run for president of the United States of America."

"That's what we're fighting for Detroit!" he shouted. "And I need your help!"

Barack Obama couldn't have it said it any better. He needs our help. He's got my vote.
