Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton

Which Candidate Would More Likely Be Our Next President?

Aimee E
As an introduction, I would first like to state that I consider myself an Independent voter. My article and my opinions are based purely on history and my interpretation of historical data. Beliefs stated are purely my own, and in now way reflect anyone's attitudes by myself.

When it comes to electing our next president, two candidates, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have become prominent figures in the campaign trail. When it comes to one candidate over the next, everyone has their own opinions about who would be more likely to become elected. Seeing as I am a woman, most would think I would pick Clinton, but as someone who loves history, the person more likely to become elected as president would be Barack Obama.

This interpretation is based on the fact that politically, black males were involved in politics before any race of females. In the U.S., black men were given the right to vote nationwide before women. While I am not saying one gender or race should have been allowed to vote over another, the facts are, this happened long before most of us were even born.

So naturally, if history takes its course and repeats itself, we will have a black male president before any female president. Of course, history is always changing and nothing is set in stone. I am just curious though, to see how this plays out and see if my theory is either proven or disproven.

What are your opinions on the subject? Do you think we will have a woman president or a black president first? So please be sure to comment and sound off. Any theories you have I am interested in hearing.

I feel that barack Obama is the best candidate because he is very intelligent and seems to show concern for working class citizens. Although I feel that Hillary Clinton is competent, her role in voting for the Iraq war has somewhat concerned me about her making tactful decisions in the future In addition, some people feel that Hillary is too emotional. I disagree because I think she really feels that she is the best candidate and that voting for Barack would be a big mistake.

Obama was not desended from US slaves, but he can still, due to his skin color, relate to problems facing our African/American population. I can not speculate on who is likely to be elected first, but like your theory. I do not think the race will be decided on simply gender or ethnicity, but I could be wrong.

She lacks all three of those qualities, that oddly, Obama possesses. I do not consider Senator Obama to be a "black" man, but rather a man. By old southern law he is considered to be black, but what if old southern law did not apply and he was considered to be white? When we have Supreme Court justices that side with the Ku Klux Klan and many of their ilk that still seem to consider desendents of slaves to be some sub-species of human beings, I think it gives Hillary the edge on the Dem nom.

As a woman I would love to have a female pres, unfortunately that is not Hillary. Reasons: she lies with a straight face; she believes the government has to make choices for the citizens, because citizens can not be trusted to make their own choices (reminds me too much of "the decider" who wishes we were a dictatorship with him as the dictaror, no thanks); and the reason females are better leaders is due to empathy, diplomacy first and care about other human beings lives.
