Barack Obama and His Plan for Health Care

Douglas Benson
Barack Obama's plan for health care is an issue on many minds of today's Americans. Barack Obama feels he has answers for guaranteed eligibility, comprehensive benefits, affordable premiums and easy enrollment, just to name a few.

Under Obama's plan, Americans will be denied coverage under an insurance plan because of any illness or a pre-existing condition. The benefits package shall be similar to those which are currently offered to the members of Congress. It covers all critical medical services such as mental health, preventative and maternity care.

Besides including affordable premiums it will also include affordable deductibles and co-pays, as well as easy enrollment for all. Enrollees in the public plan will be able to jobs without changing their health care coverage.

Insurance companies that want to participate in the new Obama program will be have to report data that supports their delivering of quality health information.

Obama plan will call for a National Health Insurance Exchange. It will assist individuals when choosing insurance plans. It will also keep an eye on the insurance industry by creating standards and rules for those companies that wish to participate. This will insure that the plans are affordable, accessible and fair across the board.

Employers who are not making available affordable and sufficient health care coverage for their employees, will be reacquired to pay a percentage of their payroll to cover the cost of Obama's national plan. Small employers that don't meet a minimum revenue goal will be exempt from this requirement.

Obama's plan will require mandatory coverage of America's children. And call for the insurance companies to offer coverage to young adults up until the age of 25 under their parents policies.
