Barack Obama I Neet Help My Doctor Fired Me!

I Am on Medicare President Barak Obama but My Doctor Will No Longer Treat Me. What Am I Going to Do?

Sondra C
President Obama I want you to know that when I was young we had doctors who made house calls. Yes, believe it. There was even a television show to prove it. The name of the show was Marcus Wellby! M.D

It depicted life as it was then. Doctors each each reached out to help the sick. They made house calls at any time, day and night. We did not have to wait for an appointment. President Obama did you know that doctors back then cared about their patients and most still do, but there are always a few that think about money and how much they can charge.

The doctor was like a friend, President Barak Obama. This is why they were referred to as Family Doctors. They not only treated the young who were sick, but every family member regardless of age. Well, those times are gone forever. That, along with the 3 cent glass of a chocolate egg cream.

Quite a few years ago a doctor fired me. He sent me a letter to say that he would no longer be treating me. Why? Because I had canceled a few appointments in the past-each for good reasons. President Obama this was the first time that I had ever heard of such a thing. I had always thought that a doctor was truly concerned about a patent's health. I guess I was thinking of the past. Nowadays, physicians think of more about the money, then about the health of a person.

Recently I received a letter in my snail mailbox, from my chiropractor that he could no longer treat me. I was astounded, and took it personally and immediately phoned to find out 'why'? President Obama you would want to know as well if this happened to you.

I was told that he sent the identical letter to all of his Medicare patients. I wondered when and what happened to cause Medicare patients to suddenly become 'untouchable". President Obama I did the following and it did not help.

1. I asked to speak to the Doctor. He explained the reason.

2. Medicare is going to pay less for a medicare patient.

3. Medicare takes too long to reimburse a patent's visit.

4. Medicare discovers too many errors that are made by 'the doctor's staff' office staff, and had refused to pay unless it was corrected and then resubmitted it.

Was this my problem or that of his staff? Tell me President Obama.

The fact that I required chiropractic care did not seem to bother him. His pocket came first and then the patient. I was left to find a new Chiropractor to treat my aching back.

He sent me a few names of other Chiropractors that live in my vicinity. I could have done the same thing by walking up and down the block. He could not attest to their ability or whether they could help me or not.

I still have the sciatica pain but I no longer have a chiropractor to treat me. President Obama can you tell me why this happened?

I guess it is more important for them to get paid by Medicare within a shorter amount of time, of they just will no longer treat you. It never dawned on them not to make so many billing errors.

Be aware, President Obama, that the same thing is might happen by Medical Doctors. Keep watching your mail box and find out. You might just be the next patient to be fired!

Doctors in general want to stop treating Medicare patients. Baraka Obama and the new health plan will leave seniors without health care.

A response to Astounded who should re-read my article. I never said aynything or mentioned the Health care Reform. My article is not a rant, it is a true tale of what happened to me. My article was meant to tell President Obama, who I voted for and respect, to tell him what we are facing. This also is not only for the Seniors, my friend, every person faces the same thing. The truth is that Doctors are leaving their practice, or they are moving to another State or Country. Others who are not Seniors are going through the same thing. Doctors are no longer accepting medicare - or dropping their patients- old and young alike-from their practice. I appreciate opinions but make sure you are right my young friend. In this case you were not correct. Again - my article was not a rant - it was a true encounter-and had nothing to do with the reform bill . It was simply my way of telling the President that we need help. Thank you for writing but calm down and get your facts correct.

That someone who is so profoundly uninformed would actually post their misunderstood rant for the [e]World to read. Your problem, and the one that so many Medicare patients are facing, has NOTHING to do with Pres. Obama's health care reform! It was an existing issue, long-brewing longe before he ever took the office...Medicare has been running out of money, the multitudes of baby boomers relying upon it--rather than the expensive private insurance alternative--is what drives doctors to 'fire' patients and drives the costs of private insurance options up! THAT is what sparked the need for health care reform...NOT the other way around! Forgive me for sounding harsh, I just get so fed up with the illogical and idiotic misinformation I stumble across on the web.

Sorry to hear of your plight, Sondra. :o( Having worked on the other side of the line (medical lab), though, it isn't just that the docs are being greedy, really. A lot of doctors in independent practice and lab have gone out of business in recent years because too large a percentage of their clientele are (not) paid by Medicare. A ref. lab I worked for in Missouri was on life-support when I left because Medicare was 6 months behind on payment, and that was 60% of the lab's income. They can't just keep running tests for free with no money coming in to pay the staff (and the overhead is too high due largely to outrageous malpractice & liability insurance premium). Dunno how this will get fixed. :o(
