It reminded me of a rock concert. There were people selling tee shirts. This invent however wasn't only for the young. People of all age groups attended.
The doors opened at around 6 P.M. last night. Obama was scheduled to give his speech at 9 P.M. But did not enter the stage to give his "Change we need" speech until 9:45P.M.. To accommodate people still entering the complex. There were an estimated 30,000 people in attendance.
With the election only two days away, the candidates McCain and Obama are still running neck to neck in the "battleground" state of Missouri. Both have been heavily campaigning here over the last two weeks.
"We are three days away from changing America, right here in Missouri!", Obama said. It really got the crowd going In his speech last night. Obama touched down on different topics.
He explained how his tax plan would benefit all people making under 250,000 dollars a year. While mentioning Joe, (the plumber) Werzulbacher. He stated his tax plan was better than McCain, who only gives tax breaks to the very wealthy.
The relationship between John McCain and George W. Bush came up. Saying that when it came to the economy, John McCain was not a "maverick," but rather a "sidekick" of President Bush. He also mention John McCain often changes the subject when it comes to the economy. While at the same time condemning Obama as a "socialist".
America's Health care system was addressed. He spoke of fining companies that did not offer their employees insurance. Mentioning his mother who was denied insurance during her bout with cancer, because of a pre existing condition.
Obama brought up the topic of Iraq. He said that it was time to quit spending ten billion dollars a month on the war, when we need it at home. He also explained that he was not to be underestimated when it came to homeland security.
Obama's wife Michelle lended her support as well as Senator Claire McCaskill. They were both big crowd pleasers.
To me it is exciting to see such a huge turn out in my area. I have lived here for ten years and have never seen any event as large as this. Which is very interesting because Greene county is predominately Republican. Barack Obama knows this and I admire him for campaigning so much in the last weeks, in our state. I am sure this is going to help him greatly. However, is it enough to win in Missouri?.

Post a CommentWas at both this event and the Palin one the week earlier. Even with standing room on the field, there is no way there were 30K people there. Even if it could hold 30K people with the field [and I don't know if it could], the field wasn't full and neither was the opposing teams bleachers. Based on the official estimate of the Palin event [17K], this event was slightly larger, maybe 20K - on a very nice Saturday night v. a miserable Friday at noon. I know the woman in charge of concessions that night and she agreed - no way there was 30K people there.
Nit pickers! What about the content of her article besides the mundane number counting, Pam did a good job.
Kwitcherbitchin.
By the way, I live in Springfield, Mo. so please don't respond by saying something to the effect that I don't know what I'm talking about. I have nieces and nephews that go to Parkview where JFK stadium is at, and further more I have plenty of friends that attended this event and also heard that it was an attendance of over 45,000+ so just to throw that out there as well.
NB - Your right. Not in the very stands that were designed to "seat" people. But were you aware that the stadium also has a grass lawn? Take a wild guess on how many people that can/could hold? And I see you forgot a period at the end of your sentence. Hi Kettle.
Wow. You really need to work on your grammar and writing skills, as well as your counting. The stadium can't hold that many people
I actually heard that it was estimated at 43,000 thousand people.
