Barack Obama Repudiates Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Comments

Does Not Share View "about Our Country, Our Politics, and My Political Opponents"

Responding in a statement on the Huffington Post, a popular internet blog typically characterized by left-leaning politicians and politicos, Senator Barack Obama called his former pastor's comments "inflammatory" and "appalling." Senator Obama then goes on to reiterate his opposition to Reverend Wright's "remark [...] about our country, our politics, and my political opponents."

Acknowledging the "firestorm" that was set off as video of Rev. Wright's comments began circulation, Senator Obama's response comes at a time when "racial politics" have been receiving increased attention in the national media. The results of the Mississippi primary and its exit polls indicated an increasing divide between black and white voters, while right-wing commentators Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh have been attempting to tie Barack Obama with Reverend Wright and Lewis Farrakhan's beliefs for months.

Senator Obama looks to avoid a further connection between he and his pastor's beliefs by participating in a media "tour." According to Politico.com, Obama will appear on each of the major cable news networks, hoping to deflect further criticism.

"This clown of a preacher should be put in jail for inciting racial hate speech."

Your name suggests that you want to "keep it sane," yet you seem to be unable to tolerate free speech.

I agree. Obama owes his devotion to Christ to this man -- but he doesn't owe his personal politics to him. I would imagine that most Christians would place faith in Christ over their personal political beliefs, and it appears that Obama has as well. I cannot see such a situation disqualifying him from becoming President in any way.

A simple quiz - Which of following shows Obama's racist or anti-american values?

    a. The 800 bills that Obama wrote or sponsored in IL

    b. His US senate bills on WW threat reduction, government ethics, and immigration reform that he co-sponsored with Senator Lugar, Coburn and and Hagel.

    c. The expanded health care he passed for 150,000 children?

It is incredibily arrogant and ignorant to presume to know what one man can learn from his church or pastor and then to make the reason for how they vote for the president of a secular nation.

The things that people who decry Wright seem to blindly step over:

    - A prison population over 1 million people now. 1 in 11 black males age 20-29 are in the prison system.

As of 2008, there are more black males in prison than there are in college.

This is NOT a crime issue, this is a systematic separation of a whole segment of society.

Who is stopping to ask why this is happening??
    - Wright's comments on radiation poisoning and drug running may sound like paranoid fantasy, but they are not without roots in reality. The Tuskegee experiments, the FBI's continued surveillance of activists, are all in living memory.

Who cares if someone got pissed off at America??? Why isn't what he said being considered? It is the truth! Maybe most americans don't have direct involvement, but you can't keep closing your eyes to it.

Is Obama completely out of touch with his fellow parishioners?

You know, the ones who sat in stunned silence and gasped in horror as Pastor Wright delivered his remarks? The ones who protested or left the pews? But wait, they did leave their pews; in order to stand and clap and cheer in agreement. And we're supposed to believe these remarks were isolated incidents? Mr. Obama has never heard "anything" like that before? We're supposed to believe his feelings about all these comments are polar-opposite to all of his fellow congregants? Is he that out of touch with them?

Mr. Obama; you are lying. You are either lying about your close connection and regular attendance, or you are lying about "what you heard and when you heard it." Either way; you are lying.

Just as Obama tried to make us think he was clueless concerning Wright's hate speech, and just as Obama tried to make us think he was clueless concerning Rezko's underhanded financial dealings, Obama really might have been clueless concerning the trap he has laid for himself regarding Bill and Hillary's behind the scenes negotiations that will ultimately lead to her winning the nomination. Suddenly the Democratic Leadership finds itself in a position where their groomed successor doesn't seem nearly as grromed after the "Wright Suff" was aired thisweek. Recognizing the Democratic Leadership's desire to break the log jam and at least have some hope of success, Hillary and Bill are hanging out a carrot for the super delegates and the Democratic Leadership as a way to distance their nominee from Wright's hate speech which tends to makes Obama unelectable.

The behind the scenes negotiations in Florida and Michigan offer the Democratic leadership a way to avoid a resounding defeat fo
