Barack Obama: Is Success Possible?

When the citizens of the United States elected Barack Obama, we did it in full view, watching breathlessly on the internet in real time. We elected him with the belief that this time it will be different. This time things will change.

We see it happen every time a new President comes to Washington - the new President promises to accomplish certain things and then he fails.

I believe that the reason he fails is built into the Political System. But I don't want to discuss the "old ways" in this article. I want to discover if we can all think outside all the known boxes and come up with a way to block the blockers, the naysayers, the Politicians who want to keep their power and their jobs more than they want to save their Country.

This is what happens every time. It is not in the career politicians' best interests to vote for what Obama and his team propose because CHANGE in Washington is anathema. We need to assist him in finding a way around those giant boulders in the Senate and House of Representatives.

Already, even before his inauguration, Washington insiders from both sides of the aisle are going to the press with negative response to every step he takes. Am I the only person who feels this?

Feinstein is miffed because she wasn't consulted? Please! How old ARE these people! Reid is off on his own demented tangents. What are we to do? Have the Career Politicians no conscience?

Bipartisanship is killing our Country.

I have racked my brain trying to come up with a way to end "Politics as Usual." The System is like an avalanche, a force of nature which it seems we are unable to stop. Short of armed rebellion, there seems to be nothing we as citizens can do.

I have the thought that Obama and Biden could put a time limit on how long they will abide the roadblocks. Once that day on the calendar passes, they let it be known that both will resign their offices if CHANGE is not allowed by the legislature. They set a second time limit. Once that day on the calendar arrives, they do what they promised. They resign, making Nancy Pelosi the President of the United States.

By following this prescription, Obama and Biden prove to the people of the United States of America that they mean what they say and will do as we elected them to do, regardless of the cost to themselves. Along with the lowly citizenry, the Career Politicians will get the same message and will be left to sort it all out themselves.

This may seem extreme, but you see, if Obama is not allowed to save us, to change Washington-As-We-Know-It, this time we cannot be saved.
