Barack Obama Takes Aim at Hillary Clinton, Shoots Himself in Foot
Obama's Shooting Makes Cousin Dick Cheney Look Accurate
Thus, just when it seemed that the marathon 2008 presidential campaign was nearing a merciful (or unmerciful) conclusion, down to just Barack Obama and Sen John McCain, Barack Obama, like his distant cousin "Deadeye" Dick Cheney, took aim and hit something other than the intended target. Unlike Dick Cheney, who shot a supporter in the face, the victim in this shooting was Sen. Obama.
In his comments in San Francisco on April 6 about guns, religion and "bitter voters", code for "typical white persons" like his Grandmother, Barack Obama, to use a basketball analogy, hoisted up a wild three pointer with only seconds to go in the game and a two point lead instead of simply running out the clock. Now, Hillary Clinton, like her or not, is very much back in the picture. Obama's chances in Pennsylvania's upcoming primary were not that good to begin with. With the trouncing these comments will likely get Obama next tuesday, he will be playing defense awhile longer.
In the midwest and south, important regions for any candidate and a uphill battle for any democrat hoping to become President, Barack Obama's comments about voters "clinging to guns and religion" out of bitterness and frustration may be ignored in some areas but will echo throughout other parts of the country.
To compound the problem, Obama responded by saying Hillary Clinton is trying to play herself off as "Annie Oakley sitting in a duck blind with a six-shooter". I'm not much of a hunter myself, my dad quit before I was old enough to take along, but even I know you don't hunt ducks with a "six-shooter". It reminds me of John Kerry's comments in Ohio in the 2004. Presidential campaign about hunting "woodchucks". Watching politicians like Kerry and Mitt Romney pandering to hunters in the south and midwest with such nonsense is quite funny. But millions of American voters are not laughing, or at least will laugh at the probable Democratic nominee...and then vote for the Republican.
As I discussed in a recent article, Barack Obama, A Change (of clothes) we can believe in, the high schoolish race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama gets pettier and more personal with each passing day. I don't know which is sillier, Hillary's gun-toting stance or Obama "craw-fishing" on his earlier comments. To many voters in my part of the country and throughout small town America, Obama's asinine comments about "bitter voters", "typical white people", and small town residents "clinging to religion" conjure up visions of Michael Dukakis, John Kerry and Howard Dean, presidential also-rans all.
Some of us believe that there is some truth to part of the comments, but to make the comments in front of a silk stocking group of well-heeled donors in San Francisco only to have them broadcast worldwide? It just gives the GOP more ammunition, pardon the pun, to paint the dems as out of touch elitists and give voters in "fly-over country" another excuse to keep the White House in Republican hands. This country does not need another 4 years of government by corporation, but it's probably going to happen in part because of the mainstream media's focus on such things as Michelle Obama's shoes.
Because of news coverage of such trivia instead of her husband's avoidance of discussing real issues that matter to Americans, the only shoes that are news are the ones being pulled out of Barack Obama'a mouth due to his recent comments and his association with the Wrong Rev. Wright. Once again because of blunders by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, the Democrats have likely snatched defeat from the jaws of an almost sure victory. Can you say President McCain?

Post a CommentI still think Obama will win the nomination, but not the general election, things could change.
Whether or not Hillary is back in business remains to be seen. If you ask me, this whole thing is just the result of the tireless 24-hour news cycle getting a little bored with the race due to the lull in primaries. Obama's polled electability has actually gone up since the "gaffe." Speaking of gaffes, how 'bout McCain confusing Shia and Sunnis four separate times! Can you say dementia?
