Barack Obama's Secret Weapons

Perhaps not many people know that Barack Obama's secret weapons are women in his life. His grandmother, mother, two half sisters, Auma and Maya Soetoro and his wife Michelle are the women that influence Obama's life. The influence of these women can be seen from his attitude, behavior, ideas and principles. The biggest asset of Obama is his multicultural tradition in his family. The tradition was introduced by the women around Obama. All these women that close to him are Barack Obama's secret weapons.

His unique background of the multi racial has become the interest of many Americans. Auma is pure Kenyan. Her mother is the first wife of Barack Obama Sr., Obama's father. Maya, on the other hand, is half Indonesia and half White-American. According to an interview with a local media in Indonesia, Maya said that she was close to Obama. She and Obama used to talk on the phone for hours to reminiscing about their childhood memories.

In an interview with New York Times, Maya Soetoro said that their mother, Ann Dunham, had a remarkable approach to sharing the world with her children. She said that their mother had taught them that if they had sufficient love and respect for a part of the world, it could be a meaningful part of who you are, even if it wasn't delivered at birth. Then she added, "It is one thing to know about the rest of the world. It is another to have it become a part of who you are and what you do."

She said that their mother had given them books such as Bible, Hindu Upanishad, Buddhism and Tao Te Ching. Their mother believed that every person has something unique to be presented to the world. However, she had never taught them about Al Qur'an although they prayed using the verses from Al Quran when they were little. Maya also added that her diversity in their family is the reflection of diversity of the United States of America. This asset will make Obama a great leader, who has a heart to see other part of the world and has creative approaches when it comes to International issues, friendly and diplomatic. Barack Obama will become a leader that understand his people's situation and will do something about it.

Perhaps, Americans are not ready for a female President yet. In Barack Obama, we can get both, because his secret weapons are the women behind his success.
