Barack Vs Bush: A Comparison

Aaron Conor
What if Barack becomes the next president? Would he be better or worse than Bush? Most people across America and the world would say better. And here's a few reasons why.

Coherent Speaker -

Being a coherent speaker is a very important part of being a president. If you can't speak well then you should not be the president. With Bush, it's a combination of a southern accent and just poor speaking skills. This is not to say that people with southern accents are bad public speakers(like Bill Clinton).

However, when you combine a southern accent and someone who has poor public speaking skills then you have a disaster in the making. Still, it does give comedians something to talk about.

Barack, however, does not have a southern accent. Plus, he speaks well and has a sense of humor. This does not make him a great president necessarily, but if he should become the next president then we will not be embarrassed when he gives a speech.

Bipartisanship -

Bush has proven that he has no interest in being bipartisan, and he never will be. However, Barack has stated that he's not interested in continuing the anti bipartisanship that is rampant in today's government. Barack wants to try and unite the Republicans and Democrats. This is unlikely to ever happen, but at least Barack says he wants to try. It's unlikely that Barack could make things any worse than they already are.

Not too Religious -

Bush claims to be a born again Christian, which is fine. However, many people in the United States are not born again Christians. In other words, please keep your religion to yourself if you're the president. Barack seems to be the type of religious person who is more tolerant of other religions and non-religions.

Basically, Barack is not a religious zealot bent on converting everyone. Bush isn't exactly trying to convert everyone either, but he probably wouldn't mind if everyone became a born again Christian(never going to happen). In his mind, it would probably be easier to control everyone that way.

Green Technology -

Bush has proven that he does not have much interest in green technology such as solar power. However, thanks to the oil crisis, Bush has finally conceded that an alternative to oil would benefit the United States(hello ethanol).

Or perhaps he's just trying to distract everyone from how wrong he was about oil in the first place. Barack states that he wants to utilize more green technology, protect our national forests, increase recycling; etc.

If Barack were to become the next president then the world would probably breath a collective sigh of relief. Finally, there would be a president the world could understand and respect.
