I've always respected the president of the United States as the commander in chief of our armed forces. Sometimes I haven't respected the person who was elected as our commander in chief, but I always respected and do respect the office they hold.
I believe firmly that the United States of America is the best place to live and work in the world today. Do we have problems that we need to solve? Yes, we do. Abuse of animals, children, the elderly and governmental programs is rampant in our land and needs to be stopped. However, that's a subject for another time.
The picture I have seen shows Mr. Obama standing in front of our nation's flag with his hands clasped in front of himself during the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. I have no idea whom to credit for it but I do know that pictures seldom lie. (I believe that "A Picture is worth 1000 words.) I also know what I think of any "person" so lacking in moral fiber and respect that he or she refuses to salute our nation's flag or to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Unfortunately the picture, which was sent to me in an e-mail is in BMP format and I cannot upload it here.
Title 4 of the United States Code ยง4:
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute.
Folks, The United States Code is the LAW. The law by which we live; the law by which our great nation flourishes.
Mr. Obama is running for President of the United States of America. The highest and most respected office possible for a citizen of the United States. He wants to be our leader and our representative to the rest of the world.
Despite his desire for the Presidency, he apparently believes, by his actions, that he is above the law and has the right to sneer at the people he purportedly wants to represent and serve.
Well, NOT ON MY WATCH! By his own actions he has made bloody sure I won't vote for him. Whether or not you do is up to you. I have the right to my opinion and you have the right to yours. That's one of the great things about the United States of America. Our right to express our feelings and beliefs.
Thanks for reading.

George Bush wore his little lapel pin and saluted like a nice little robot.
He also started a war in Iraq based on lies. So much for "supporting the troops"!
You may want to spend your time and energy looking at "the big picture" instead of the minutia.
Just a thought so you can better understand reality.
I do not care if he salutes the flag or says the Pledge of Allegiance. I don't, and I don't on purpose, thank you. What matters is not that someone worships a flag. What matters is the person or people behind it. I think somewhere we have lost the fact that it's the people who represent this country, not the flag. The flag is a symbol for all of us, but it's not what makes this country work. It's not why others hate us. I don't want to salute the flag... I want to salute the people behind it.
if find it hard to belive that how much people can say about Obama. to me obama is someone that wants to change the country by getting rid of GM and Daimler Chrysler so that ford is the only make in the US that sucks!!! The ford trucks get worse gas mileage than the full size trucks and the fords are wat to tall unlike the chevys. i say he needs to give chevy a little more time and get rid of the uneconomical ford trucks. the 5.4 tritin has less torque than the 5.3 vortec.
Also he traveled to Pakistan when it was ILLEGAL for US citizens to travel to there. How in the world did he manage that? oh, wait.. he is NOT A US CITIZEN!
Well, now I know why he would not pledge allegience to our flag. He pledges his allegience else where. He is an indonesian citizen and proof of that is that his here:
His grandmother said she was in the delivery room when he was born in Kenya. (she's said this more than once)
The Kenyan Ambassador in DC affirmed that the birthplace of Barack Obama is well known in Kenya. (he also said this more than once)
Obama REFUSES to release his real birth certificate.
The certification of live birth (look at obamas website- http://fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate) is not sufficient to show that he was born in the US, since even a non natural born citizen can receive one for purposes of drivers licences or signing up for school. (Professionals who have examined this certification of live birth have found that it is a forgery)
Obama has attended school in Indonesia where you had to be an Indonesian citizen.
Also he traveled to Pakistan when it was ILLEGAL for US c
In the photo no one is speaking, this is not a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. When it is so obvious that one candidate is by far more qualified to lead than the other, why are the votes this close? why are Americans searching so hard for something to be wrong with him an not looking at what's right with him. Is it still the black thing?

HMCS- How about focusing on the important stuff, like poverty, war, global warming, starvation, etc. At least Obama has a brain (unlike shrub).
...As for me, I don't place my hand over my heart (haven't since I was forced to in the military) and I won't until I'm proud of our administration. As an individual living in a democracy, why should I have to follow along with everyone else if I'm disgusted by how we treat other nations and our own poor/neglected citizens? I showed my respect by serving two honorable tours in the Marines and I show it today by being a good law-abiding citizen. Is that not enough? I believe in Barack and he will receive my vote.
I'm an American and a former Marine but NOT a mindless sheep and I think it's funny how Americans get all wrapped up in what doesn't matter in the long run. Obama slipped. We all have moments when we are tired or distracted for whatever reason and this is how Obama explained himself. As for not wearing that American flag lapel pin before this incident, I applaud his individualism. He's trying to separate himself from all of the useless/corrupt/selfish politicians who "proudly" wear that facade of patriotism to gain our votes. This guy is real and we need a leader who isn't wrapped up in pettiness and is willing to shrug off judgmental types and dig deep into the real issues facing America....
