Barbara Walters Lectures Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg on 'The View' Temper Tantrum -- Bill O'Reilly Lights Up "The View"
Barbara Walters Had to Play Nursemaid to Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg on 'View'
'The View' guest Bill O'Reilly of Fox
Normally on Barbara Walters' "The View" a guest isn't going to get a word in edgewise if he or she is a controversial guest that the hostess' take issue with. But Bill O'Reilly of Fox News was the exception to that rule today, and his ability to handle himself among a pack of women bent on taking him to task felled his detractors instead.
Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg were so ill-equipped to handle the conversation and the turns it took, that the two opinionated women ran for cover, fleeing the scene. Barbara Walters was not amused.
"I love my colleagues but that should not have happened," Walters told the audience, "We should be able to have discussions without washing our hands, and screaming, and walking off stage," reported TMZ.
Joy and Whoop make women look like emotional wrecks
Barbara Walters is right. Getting shrill, storming off stage, and refusing to listen to an opinion in opposition to your own is childish and unbecoming a television talk show hostess. This is especially true if they bothered to actually investigate the proposed 'near Ground Zero' Mosque's Imam Rauf, as this "Imam Rauf Exposed" video does.
These two women have been known to dish it out all day long to their solo conservative hostess Elizabeth, but when someone rakes them over the coals they can't handle it.
Bullies on the school yard act like that. They dish and dish and dish to others, always acting like they have a right to act the way they do, but then they are the first ones to run to the teacher when they get bullied.
Enter Bill O'Reilly.
Joy Behar and Whoop Goldberg finally met their match and they were unable to handle it. You didn't see them sitting there and taking it, did you? And when they did finally venture back, Joy was so rattled she couldn't even physically sit next to O'Reilly, as he intimidated her that much!
Unsportsmanlike hostess conduct on "The View"
Whoopi Goldberg went out on a limb defending Mel Gibson's anti-Jews and profane rhetoric in what became known as the Mel Gibson tapes, but she took issue with Bill O'Reilly for his defending the 9/11 families' right to take issue with a Muslim mosque close to Ground Zero.
How crazy is that? It is okay for a man to be domestically abusive and to call people every name in the book but it isn't okay for a man to defend the rights of his countrymen? That's just warped, Whoopi.
Joy Behar, proud of her normal calm demeanor on the women's show, lost it herself and exclaimed, "This is such bulls*&t," when expected to sit and hold a normal conversation--albeit heated as always on their show--with a guest.
I would have swore Behar normally sticks to her seat like glue, as the guests are usually successfully tarred and feathered and she feels no reason to flee.
Bill O'Reilly gets "The View" girls' goose
If you think Bill escaped Barbara's reprimand, you would be wrong. She reminded him that, "You cannot take a whole religion and demean them because of what some [did]," she told the popular conservative host.
Again, Barbara Walters is right. Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg were out of line--and embarrasing to the rest of us more level-headed women out here--and Bill O'Reilly shouldn't label all Muslims as the perpetrators of 9/11.
Personally, Joh Behar and Whoopi Goldberg have been long overdue for a good fight as good as they can give. And while I don't watch the show, I would have loved to have personally watched this one live, up close and personal.
Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar on receiving end for once
To see those two get their comeuppance for all the times they have jumped in pack attack mode on the little defenseless Elizabeth would have been worth having to sit and listen to them otherwise. But I at least had a good chuckle at their expense this morning.
I'm glad Bill gave them their tongue-lashing and equally glad that Walters took them to task for fleeing with their tail between their legs at the first sign of serious opposition.
Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg will no doubt spin the whole embarrasing episode as a "we couldn't tolerate Bill," line but the truth is out: Behar and Goldberg can't cut the mustard when it comes to someone getting in their face like they do others. Go Bill O'Reilly and Barbara Walters!

Post a CommentInteresting spin the author put on this. I don't necessarily agree with Behar or Goldbergs conduct but I can very well support their right to refuse to pander to lies. Terrorists are in fact NOT all Muslim. Terrorists are also Christian, Irish, and the perpetrators of considerable volumes of genocide throughout recorded history. Hitler was IN FACT, Christian. So were fascist regimes such as Ustase, Trujillo, dozens of Popes endorsing violence through crusades and inquisitions just to name a few. Native Americans were not decimated by Muslims. Timothy McVie wasn't a muslim. French and English Protestants have extensive cases against Catholic terrorists. Dancing with glee for St Bartholomew massacre & issuing commemorative coins for the event is not a high point of western culture.
Barbara,I read your book and felt so encouraged...then I watched "The View" with guest Bill O'Reilly. I couldn't believe the way Joy and Whoopie reacted to his comments. I thought the show was called "The View", evidently it should be "Our View". They should be guests on FOX news and their comments would be heard and the hosts would not walk off the air. It's a shame that people like Joy and Whoopie don't understand the wonderful country they live in. They need to go somewhere like Iran, North Korea, etc. and see how free they are to speak their mind. They may not have the common sense and dignity, but after reading your book, I thought you did. These people don't belong on the same page with you or at least I thought so. I guess ratings mean more than what we stand for!
I hardly think Joy and Whoopi represent all women in America so the statement that they make all women look like emotional wrecks is ridiculous. They've only served to make themselves look like the biased and emotional wrecks that they are.
Joy got some of her own medicine. She says alot of mean things about other people, using her freedom of speech. But won't let anyone else use it. She needs to get out of her comfort zone and see what American's really think and feel. 70% of us have thoughts that are different from hers and we believe as strongly as she does. And we are not all Tea Party people. Stop telling us how to think, You are not that smart.
What a joke! Joy Behar! She should do some research before opening her mouth. Just another liberal attemtping to force her views on all America. Wake up Joy before America is no longer. Barbara, you used to be wiser apparently now you are just older - get rid of Joy! No one cares to watch your show any longer.
From what I understand, having seen this show a few times, the entire program is about OPINIONS, right? Funny how, now matter how old we become, some of us are so steadfast in our opinions, we get infuriated when others disagree with us.
You didn't get my whole comment. Joy needs to go, let her have her comments on her show that noone watches. I'm really surprised with Whoopi, she made a big mistake walking off with Joy. I thought she had more class than that.
Barbara you need to clean house, and get rid of Joy, she has run your show into the ground. I don't know how Steve puts up with her, she sure wears the pants in that family. Bill O'Rielly was right to tell her to be quiet and listen, she couldn't take a man standing up for himself. The new Talk show on CBS will be a good trade in for you guys. You are going down hill, and it's all Joy's fault.

Nice job on this article. I am glad he is doing it too!
Good job on this, Radell. It's true...poor Elizabeth Hasselback has to take all their whining and badgering of her political beliefs on TV. I'm glad Bill O'Reilly is brave enough to come on that show effortlessly and make certain co-hosts on that show LISTEN to what he has to say. He was right when he tapped Joy Behar on the knee and said, "quiet and you'll learn something." That is so true. For once Elisabeth had someone who saw her side of things. Libral Hollywood. Sheesh. I'm tweeting this. :)
