Barbara Walters Speaks Out on Heather Mills

A Very Nasty Divorce

I watch the View every day until "Hot Topics" is over. More happens in that first twenty minutes than in the rest of the show. Barbara Walters is an icon in the world of television journalism and her interviews are some of the most controversial. Barbara Walters interviewed Heather Mills on April 16th, 2007 and said she was impressed with her postive involvement in many good works. Afterwards Barbara got word that Ms. Mills told untruths. When Barbara went back to question her about the discrepancies in her interview, Heather got quite nasty. Ms. Walter came out publicly and told Paul he should have never married Heather Mills.

Today on "The View" Barbara Walters spoke out against Heather Mills saying that Sir Paul had very generoulsly married Ms. Mills without a pre-nuptual. She also said that when Heather Mills had been interviewd in April she was extremely rude to her staff. This public denouncement is very uncharacteristic of Barbara Walters and this alone gives credence to her statements. Even the gals sitting at the table with Barbara were really shocked at her statements. They did however agree with her that Heather Mills was a woman behaving badly.

It is quite amazing that a woman like Heather Mills landed Sir Paul, considering his many years with Linda McCarthey. Linda was beloved by her family, business associates, and her family. I imagine she is looking down on Paul and shaking her head on this one. The Melbourne Herald Sun just reported Stella McCartney has designed a necklace that sports one leg dangling from a chain. This is an obvious dig and the relationship between these two has been nothing but bitter and acrimonious.

When Heather married Sir Paul she became Lady Heather Mills McCartney and she has acted as if anything but, or so the tabloids report. Marrying for the money and the title seems to be Heather's motivation for having married Paul. In all fairness though, did Paul really think that he could replace Linda? Sadly there is a lovely child involved and now things are really going to get down and dirty. The girls on the View discussed the fact that Sir Paul has finally had enough, and now he is pursuing custody of Beatrice. Good for him! Thankfully the courts, these days, recognize what a splendid job men do of being single parents.

Heather Mills states that she does not wish to be know for her title of Lady Heather, and she is angered by the media dipicting her as a golddigger. This particular divorce has the distinction of having the largest settlement in English history. She can deny her avarice all she wants, but the fact is that she still walks away with 25% of Sir Paul's fortune. Heather, throughout her relationship with Paul, has been described as a spirited woman having her own mind. Sir Paul admits that this is what drew him to her. Unfortunately it is seems to be her undoing in the relationship.

Wikipedia reports a great deal of unsubstantiated drama surrounding her past and childhood. It has been suggested that she played up her difficult childhood to garner public sympathy. Unfortunately it has backfired on her. While she is affiliated with many charitable organizations and she has championed many a cause, she still seems to get on folks last nerve. While certain parts of the media could be found guilty of telling a slanted story, Heather Mills has a reputation for being difficult beyond the normal tabloids. It will be interesting to see how much of her settlement goes to charity and I can't wait to see Stella's necklace.

I was also disappointed in Paul for marrying such an obvious gold digger..but I suppose he had to live and learn!

Good info -- I was definitely a little surprised when Paul seemed to re-marry so soon after his wife's death.
