Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer: Product Review

K. Bellamy
If the Bare Escentuals company included the Prime Time Foundation Primer in their bareMinerals Introductory Kit, they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand for their products. While I love the bareMinerals Foundation, the Prime Time Foundation Primer is the key that makes it the best make up you will ever wear on your face. Pity that it took me a year and a half to discover/find a salesperson to tell me this!

What is Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer?

The Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer is perfect for adding to your face just before you put on your makeup. A pea-sized drop on your index finger is enough to cover your face. The Primer is clear and in no way greasy, leaving a satiny feel to your skin. While it is dry, it definitely doesn't leave your face feeling that way. There's no burning or any discomfort. Just wait a minute to let the Prime Time Foundation Primer soak in and then apply your bareMinerals Foundation.

You can use Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer over your regular moisturizer if you want. I use it over Olay - which has been my moisturizer of choice for years. You'll want to let your moisturizer soak in before applying the Prime Time Foundation Primer, but it just adds another minute or less of time to your makeup routine. Believe me, you'll be glad you added the Prime Time Foundation Primer to your routine.

Why Use the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer?

The reason you'll want to add the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer to your bareMinerals line of products is that, well, you'll simply never want to be without it again once you've given it a try. The Prime Time Foundation Primer makes your bareMinerals foundation smoother than you could possibly imagine.

Problems with bareMinerals foundation gathering in lines on your face or around your eyes? Not anymore.

My Experience with Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer

I'd been using bareMinerals for awhile and had tried everything to rid myself of bareMinerals foundation creasing around my eyes. Because I purchased the bareMinerals Introductory Kit, I assumed that the Skin Rever-Upper that came in the kit was the product that was supposed to go on under my makeup. It is marketed as a makeup "base" for bareMinerals and maybe it works perfectly for those with oily skin. But for women with dry skin or for older women, Skin Rever-Upper is not the product to use for a base or primer for your bareMinerals makeup. It is drying and it even stings a little. While I'm willing to suffer a little for beauty, I'm not willing to suffer if the product doesn't work for me.

Even after discussing the problem with my bareMinerals consultant, I wasn't directed to the Prime Time Foundation Primer. Instead I was directed to a product from another makeup line. While I liked that product, it improved but didn't totally solve the problem of bareMinerals foundation settling in my "smile lines".

Just a few weeks ago I was close to running out of Skin Rever-Upper and my product from another makeup line. I made one more attempt at my local beauty store to find a product in the bareMinerals line that would solve my little "wrinkle" problem. For the first time, the salesperson suggested the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer. She explained that the Skin Rever-Upper and the Foundation Primer were for two separate things. In her opinion, the Skin Rever-Upper was a good product for perfecting your skin for using bareMinerals. What it wasn't was the correct product to use immediately before putting on your bareMinerals Foundation.

Why didn't someone tell me this before?

I trotted home with the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer. Even then, I was skeptical and actually finished up the last little bit of the Skin Rever-Upper before switching to the Prime Time Foundation Primer. Recession and all - you know. When I finally used the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer I was amazed at the difference in my face. While I had always liked bareMinerals Foundation, the Primer made it hands down the best foundation I had ever used. No more lines with makeup creases. No more uncomfortable burning sensation while my skin was "revving-up". Added bonus, thebareMinerals Foundation brushed on even smoother everywhere on my face.

Recommendation: Use Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation

If your skin is normal to dry or if you are having problems with the bareMinerals Foundation finding all available creases on your face, do give Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation a try. A Prime Time Foundation Primer especially for eyes is also available. I haven't tried it, but I will. However, I have had no problem using the regular Prime Time Foundation Primer on my eyes, too.

You can purchase Prime Time Foundation Primer from QVC.com, Sephora, or any local salon or beauty store that carries the bareMinerals line of products.

Just make sure your salesperson knows to market Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer to their clients with normal to dry skin and to their older clients.

In this economic climate, every salesperson needs an extra sale and every women deserves an extra pretty face.

  • Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer is the perfect "base" for bareMinerals makeup.
  • Use Prime Time Foundation Primer if you have normal, dry, or "older" skin.
While Bare Escentuals Skin Rever-Upper is included in the Bare Minerals Introductory Kit, be sure to investigate other products in the Bare Minerals line such as the Foundation Primer.

Interesting. My skin might not be right for this product (I tend towards oily) but it's good to know it's available.
