My all-time favorite place to buy greeting cards is from a company called, Current, either from their mailed catalog, or on their website: www.currentinc.com. I have been an avid customer of theirs' for over 28 years. They have high quality cards that are very well made, colors are vivid, card fronts look very high quality and they have such a wide variety of choices for all occasions: birthday cards for men, women, men or women, and children; cards for each holiday including Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas; sympathy cards; get well cards; thank you cards; note cards; note cards and larger cards for every day use; thinking of you cards; congratulations; new baby; wedding; engagement; friendship cards; personalized cards and multi-occasion assortment packages. I hope I didn't forget to list any, but whatever common type of card you need they have it. They have everyday picture cards, religious cards and they have humorous cards too. My favorite licensed character card they have is Suzy's Zoo. Each card comes with a plain envelope - some color and some white, and some cards are sold individually, but most of their cards come in sets of 10-12 cards with matching envelopes and their variety packs are much larger. Their prices are superb. Cards in sets cost as little as .15 each. This is such a sure way to continue to be able to send cards to others without hurting your budget. Every July they have a huge sale with most items at 75% off. This is when I usually buy all of my cards, wrapping paper, etc. that I'll need throughout the year and then some. I usually spend about $200.00 during this sale. Towards the end of this sale, they offer free shipping too with a qualifying minimum purchase amount. If you join the mailing list on their website you'll continuously receive emails from them and they often offer free shipping with a qualifying total throughout the year too. This company also sells wrapping paper as I stated above, scrap booking items, calendars, gifts for adults and children, household items and address labels. They even have a fundraising catalog to help you raise money for your organization, which I personally have used in the past.
I love receiving greeting cards from a company called, Leanin' Tree. The front picture on most of their cards are awesome. Since I live in the Southwest I like that they have a lot of western themes as the picture on the front of their cards. I like that their envelopes are decorated also to match the card. They sell cards individually and in sets. They also have cards for every occasion: birthday for men, women, men or woman and children; all holidays; get-well cards; sympathy cards; friendship cards; everyday cards; note cards; all assortment cards; photo cards and personalized cards. Their cards are as low as .83 each. They also sell gift items. Occasionally they offer free shipping with a qualifying minimum purchase amount and free note cards. You can request their catalog, or shop online at their website: www.leanintree.com.
You might be able to find good prices for individual and boxed greeting cards on eBay, as long as sellers keep the shipping cost low, or offer free shipping.
If you rather shop local than online, I use the same shopping tactics to buy greeting cards as I use when shopping for other items. When you need to buy something, always try the Dollar Tree, or 99 cent store first, then Big Lots, before you shop anywhere else. I know that the Dollar Tree sells individual greeting cards for 2 for $1.00 and I was very surprised to see that they are very nice ones too. They have a variety of occasions - a little of each one. I know they sell boxes of Valentine's Day cards for children to use and I have bought boxed Christmas cards there - usually a box of 12, for of course only $1.00 per box. They sell a variety of boxed Christmas cards: religious, general, characters and humorous ones. I have bought boxes of Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo Christmas cards there. The price is right.
Big Lots sells a wide variety of Gibson by American Greetings individual cards at discount prices - I think 30% off. They also sell discounted boxed Valentine's Day cards and Christmas cards.
I seem to always find the greatest sales at Walgreens too. They may be hard to find (ask an employee) in a Walgreens store but I have bought Fantus brand boxed greetings cards there for only $1.99 per box, or 2 boxes for $3.00. These boxed cards come in a box of 12 for different occasions; birthday for men, women, men & women and children; get-well; sympathy and all-assortment. They have general themes and religious themes also. Walgreens also sells individual Hallmark cards and Hallmark's .99 cent cards are really nice at such a great price. Walgreens also sells boxed Valentine's Day cards, Christmas cards and Hanukkah cards. They often have sales on their Walgreens brand Christmas and Hanukkah boxed cards at buy 1/get 1 free. Look at their circular each week for sales on all their boxed holiday cards and notice if you need to clip a coupon to receive that sale price.
Of course when we shop locally we get the best prices for holiday cards after that holiday has passed. All stores then offer 50% off, then 75% off and then 90% off. That's the best opportunity to think ahead and to save the most money.
