Barnes and Noble Booksellers, a New York based company, is set to open a super-store in newly remodeled Eastridge Mall in San Jose, Ca on March 15, 2005. The community has been awaiting the arrival of the store that will satisfy a much-desired need for local readers.

The new store will feature a Starbucks with all the highly popular drinks; a music and DVD section, a children's area offering weekly story time sessions, community events such as book-signings and fund-raising opportunities. The company offers discounts to educators and customers who opt to join a membership club.

Since the closing of B. Dalton, Eastsiders have gone without close access to a bookstore. Displaced customers had to travel across town to other bookstores in Milpitas, South San Jose and Campbell.

East San Jose resident Linda Gomez feels the new store opening will offer something for everyone. "It's exciting to have a quality bookstore opening in this area because our kids will have some place to go where they can stay out of trouble and expand their minds."

Bookstores are known for being popular meeting places for college study-groups or for post-work winding down. Barnes and Noble promotes itself on being a community focused organization. They hope to attract many new readers and steer traffic from other locations to the east side of the city.
