Barnes and Noble Stores Offer Free Wi-Fi

Emily Harmon
Last year, I traveled to Pensacola, Florida for vacation. I was taking graduate classes at the time and although they were online I still had forums to check in with and assignments to complete. I was disappointed that the only retail chain I could find with consistent free wi-fi access was Starbucks. And while I did not mind visiting Starbucks each day to check in with my classes, it wasn't really a place you could stay for the afternoon.

For anyone currently in such a predicament they are in luck. All Barnes and Nobles stores are now offering free wi-fi in their stores for customer use. At AT&T Wi-fi offered through Barnes and Noble has no fees or chargers of any kind. Barnes and Noble states, "We have always wanted our stores to feel like home-a place where people can relax, explore and connect with ideas and each other at their leisure. So it is only natural that, in today's world, we want our customers to enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi. You can explore the world the way you always have at Barnes & Noble with the technology that connects us to the world today." (www.barnesandnoble.com)

The Barnes and Noble website at www.barnesandnoble.com offers a store search right along with their free wi-fi announcement. Just enter the city name, state, and/or zip code to check to see if there is Barnes and Noble anywhere you desire. So if you are planning a trip to another city, or out of state, you can check to see if there is a Barnes and Noble near you before you set out.

College students, employees, and internet addicts can rejoice! Free wi-fi is now just a click away at every Barnes and Noble store. Hooray!

Great move on their part. Keeps people in there longer.

More and more national chains and local coffee bistros have FINALLY figured out the benefits of offering free wi-fi! Hallelujah!

Don't forget the handy-dandy local public libraries offer it too and you can bring your own laptop, plop into an easy chair, and make your own space without having a library card. I often hit libraries while traveling.

Yeah!! I hope this is true. I love to sit at Barnes and Nobles, read and write. It almost feels like an office..and have coffee and take a break and stretch and browse the book aisles and then read some more. I'm a bookstore junkie for sure!

At the mall closest to us there is a battle between Starbucks and B&N because they both offer free WiFi. One says that the other is stealing customers, the other says that they aren't. It's like grade school there sometimes lol
