How would five hours of entertainment for $8 sound in one of the most expensive places to live?
Barona Speedway, a new 1/4 mile dirt track is the place to be for bang-for-your buck entertainment in San Diego County. The night of the race will provide five hours of entertainment all for $8. And, to top that off, you can bring your own cooler full of food and refreshments. They even encourage you to spend the night in your car if you've had to much to drink because of the curvy roads to and from.
The sight is a trek, roughly 40 miles from the airport, but well worth the price of admission, located between Lakeside and Ramona. As the sun sets over the track the mountains nearby provide a beautiful background.
The track features a wide variety of cars including Sprint Cars, Dwarfs, Modifieds, and Street Stocks providing an exciting race program for all family members to enjoy. Right before intermission, the young kids even race, displaying future NASCAR pro's.
There is a nice feature at the end of the races providing an opportunity for kids and adults to meet the racers, sit in their cars and get pictures and autographs.
One doesn't need to be a true race fan to appreciate the entertainment provided. If you do plan on going and you forget to bring your cooler full of food, the concession stand sells a mean chili cheese fries plate.
